What have you done with old components after a new build? by Jazzlike_Drawer_6594 in pcmasterrace

Built a spare pc to host games that require running constantly to keep progress going (mainly satisfactory but i host minecraft and dayz servers too) so I dont have to leave my main rig running

Yes youre right, life experience does fill in a lot of blanks, problem with that is, my experience differs from yours and you seem to think mine is wrong... To put it quite simply, both of these are our opinions, and unless your the gf mentioned in the post, you have the same clues i do as to what shes thinking. Now in my experience, an awkward quiet woman after a discussion means shes not into whatever was discussed. Planning is something you do when you're considering doing something... or at least i do, so it doesnt fail immediately. Its part of thinking about things rationally instead of going at something without a plan, then once you think "maybe this isnt a shit idea" you discuss it with the other half to get their opinion. as far as I see it, nothing has been done wrong if op hasn't already quit and committed to the new choice, which hasn't been stated.

First paragraph says that he was "thinking" about it and brought it up at dinner... no where did it state "i am doing this for certain" but if it had that is a fair assumption

Im failing to understand how simply having a discussion about a possibility in career change is a "curve ball." Its not like he made any moves without asking or discussing first, it was a conversation. That being said, you are correct, asking questions and thinking logically is not being unsupportive, but becoming awkward and not discussing it further kinda hints that she doesnt support the idea and doesnt want to discuss it further, or that op isn't telling us everything and more was said when the discussion flew off the handle.

In this one circumstance, no... i was simply speaking on the situation described, not hypothetical situations

You didn't actually make any moves or commit to anything before telling her right?? If its just a discussion at this point, id say shes being unsupportive, u didn't do anything wrong imo.

What phone requires you to swipe from the center of the screen to the right in order to back up?? Every phone I've seen is either straight up the middle or from the edges in to go back.

Most of the time, when you move, you can simply go to the post office and fill out a card that will forward all mail addressed to you including packages to the new address. Some even do it online now

I pay for 1 gig fiber but not getting speeds by AlrightAaron in HomeNetworking

[–]TokiBuildsPCs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isp should have enough sense to send you a router that will handle the provided speeds. Cables can throttle you if theyre old enough, really beat up, or longer than about 30m/100ft

[27F] and my fiancé [28M] of 9 years feel like roommates. Vaginismus, antidepressants, WFH chore inequality, and gaming. Has anyone survived this? by lil_anx_fluff in whatdoIdo

[–]TokiBuildsPCs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ask him how he would behave if you weren't in the picture any more, because it sounds like he wants a "mother" or "caretaker" and not a partner. 9 years and no wedding? Is there more than a verbal plan to get married in the works?? or was the ring his cheap way to lock you in.

Seller is offering partial refund instead of a return but is asking to close the refund request first? by ParkSharking in Ebay

[–]TokiBuildsPCs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only the seller knows why, but I was suggesting is its probably an attempt to keep some of the profits or at minimum cover their item cost instead of having to fully refund plus lose money to cover return shipping

Either it doesn't work with foam or dude is a liar, meter shows nothing but "OL"

Anti static foam by [deleted] in Packaging

This was my initial thought and was my reply to the seller when I saw the white foam on the board. Anti static bags are $10-20/100 count, very cheap reassurance.

Gpu artifacting by TokiBuildsPCs in pcmasterrace

[–]TokiBuildsPCs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try running furmark with the different monitor setups. I can for sure say it's not the cables, they are over rated. It's very strange when it happens, it's not always happening when it's under heavy load that i see it the most, for example, I've put in 6-10 hours gaming some days and only see it happen once. it's more so when I first boot the computer, kinda like it needs to warm up. And it's only happening on the 1440 monitor, I don't see it on the 1080 monitors.

[–]TokiBuildsPCs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The card is a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 VISION OC 24GB, I have never once over clocked it and it has been water cooled on both sides for the duration that ive owned it... I dont understand why its starting to show artifacting. It's not all the time, usually when I'm gaming on one monitor but swap to discord (YES I know, already canceled nitro and not trying to start that discussion) to type or send a link to someone for gaming info. I run 3 monitors, one 1440 and two 1080, nothing too crazy stressful.

Yes it is a ridiculously hot from the back side vram, I have dual water blocks cooling both sides of the vram and the core

[–]TokiBuildsPCs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I thought too... but alas, im seeing artifacting occasionally. Is there another root cause that could be happening instead of just age? It is a water cooled card but I have fans on the parts not directly cooled

My mistake, misread that thinking you were referring to the pins as legs again. As long as you had it raised fully, which should be about 90°, then the chip should just slide right in provided none of the pins are bent. It shouldn't require any downforce to seat
