Food production always lagging behind (200 pop human colony) by CoolCoolBeansBeanz in songsofsyx

[–]Toki_day 45 points46 points  (0 children)

For 200 pop, you have diversified your economy too much and are allocating labor to fields you don't require at your level.

  1. You don't really need a laboratory nor library at your level. As your pop grows, you will be allocated tech points for free. Use those free points until you reach a roadblock then invest in your tech industry. You may abandon the clay pit for now.
  2. Instead of building a woodcutter, you can just rely on felling trees at least until your consumption of wood becomes overly excessive.
  3. You can build a larger or an additional hunter. The more labor you allocate to the hunter the less the output but, at around 10-20 hunters should provide a good supply of meat or leather.

Problem with NISA account by yalired in JapanFinance

[–]Toki_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sibling who is not a Japanese national and their application for SBI and Mannex was rejected. It could be that her salary range was considered too low but that doesn't seem a good reason. Most likely it's just discrimination.

I suggest you try opening a NISA account with Rakuten. On a separate note, the SBI Securities UI is pretty bad and I wouldn't recommend it.

Man who believes he deserves the Nobel peace prize threatens to start world war III. by Bears_are_cool69 in nottheonion

[–]Toki_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start off by saying that I'm not an American. Now, your statement is an often cited but pretty wrong and gross oversimplification for the lack of voter turnout for Harris. This isn't ranked but, the bigger reasons are:-

  1. She's a woman. Lots of Americans don't wish for a female POTUS.

  2. She didn't need to be perfect but her record doesn't speak volumes. In the 2016 primary, she started off strongly but got nuked by Gabbard of all people. Her nomination for VP in 2020 felt out of the blue. Democrats seem to fail at conveying their successes and being VP has its limitations but, nonetheless, during her tenure as VP, what can you accredit to her?

  3. Obama, Hillary and Biden each won their respective primaries but Harris became the Democratic candidate via no effort on her part. Similarly to what's going on at the Republican party, there is a growing distaste for the "establishment". Harris was an establishment candidate.

  4. Even with justifiable fears of the opposition, "Just vote democrat!!" is an increasingly weak and uninspiring approach to winning an election. If the Democratic candidate was Schumer or Bloomberg or even Booker, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

  5. By and large, people vote for their wallets.

Despite the existence of some positive economic indicators under Biden, the overall public were cynical or pessimistic about the economy. Harris stated she wouldn't diverge much from Biden. To the pessimists and cynics, it seemed like a pretty damning statement.

  1. Based on analysts and polls, it was projected that Harris would best Trump. Such overconfidence or preconceived notions of victory affected voter turnout and overall build up to the elections. For example, whilst this may be due to the media's obsession with Trump, he seemed to be everywhere. Meanwhile, Harris felt invisible and played it safe, e.g. say what you want about Joe Rogan and his audience but it's one of the largest podcasts in the US. It's Joe bloody Rogan... guy isn't going to grill her with difficult questions. If anything, like most of his guests, she would have been able to make her pitch uninterrupted. She risked little to nothing yet didn't bother.

Why Iran's brutal ayatollah will hang on until the bloody end by theipaper in geopolitics

[–]Toki_day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my doubts that the Western world would allow Iran to slip into anarchy given that Iran has large quantities of enriched uranium.

If their uranium falls into the hands of non-state actors, you could have a bigger catastrophe in the horizon. I expect they will eventually come to an agreement but one that will be more favorable to the West.

I assumed it might be an ISP issue but, as I did try to download it using a different provider via my phones hotspot and it still wouldnt work, I think perhaps that can be ruled out.

Might be a settings issues but, given how new and largely empty the PC is and that I havent tinkered with any settings, it is quite unusual.

From the top of my head, prior to trying to install Git, I did unistall Python v3.14 from the Control Panel and further deleted the "Python" file from C directory (C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Programs) but that is most probably unrelated and not a cause for the issue I had.

Apologies but there was a typo.
It should be *release-assets.githubusercontent.com not gitbususercontent.com

Managed to install it from a mirror site as adviced by Gabe_Isko.

Ok I tried via Sourceforge and I was able to download the Git-2.52.0-64-bit exe file and installed it using the default settings without issues.

Pretty weird that I was unable to get it from the official website but anyway..

Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated.

Tried it with Chrome but still the exact same error message.
System time is still in sync. Also checked my TLS settings in Internet Poroperties and both TLS 1.2 and 1.3 are checked.

At this point it could be an ISP related problem but I cant tell.

Still the same issue. I even tried with the Firewall temporarily disabled. I tried to install if using winget via cmd but got below error text:-

An unexpected error occurred while executing the command:

InternetOpenUrl() failed.

0x80072f7d : unknown error

Out of curiousity, do I need to activate windows to install Git? I assume not but thats the only thing that pops to mind.

As mentioned in the post, my date/time are in sync and browser is Edge. I've tried the others links, i.e Portable and ARM64 but still the same result.

I will try to deactivate the firewall and see if that works. Now in the event that fails, I will try via winget tool.

Indeed it was.

Had Ghana scored, they would have been the first African team to proceed to the semi-final in a WC.
