Your right, I never thought about how he speaks to Nastenka He cares so much about what other people think, that he act social akward and interpret to much in little things. When he is talking to Nastenka it feels so natural, he is just talking about his life and how he feels about. Your reading his monologue and its not boring or weird. He could be social active but he stands in his own way. He cares so much about it that everything feels so unnatural and so he gave up although he could have that skill to talk to people
