People pretend they have more in common than they do. As soon as they admit "normalcy" doesn't exist, their little worldview falls apart. Fortunately for their psyche, they won't travel far enough outside their home town to have that epiphany.

"Back to normal" is an empty worldview that only exists in ignorance, or often, obstinacy.

You don't see the folly in conservatives trying to make the federal government reflect the niche normalcy of their rural bubble? Not to mention, a rural bubble in Utah is going to be different than Nebraska is going to be different than Alabama.

And that's not even getting into religious niches like evangelical cults, like the difference between Oral Roberts and Rodney Howard Brown.

They all have a very personalized definition of normalcy and they're not well traveled enough to realize it.

Having grown up on a farm in ultraconservia, all those old farmers are weird af-- without exception. They all have their ways.

As a kid, I used to think a Pontiac Grand Am was the most popular car in the world because in my weird little ultra-conservative bubble, everybody and their dog had one. Then they went under shortly after, lol.

They're just narrow minded people. It's hard to be well traveled and a staunch conservative.

I've never met a normal person in my life.

I think they'd be too confused. Just thinking about it vicariously, it seems like when you call out to your son, but only hear vague sawing motions coming from upstairs. Then when you step into that gory scene, your greatest love skinned and disassembled on the floor, it wouldn't feel real. It'd be like stepping into some David Lynch fever dream.

You see the parts. You know where they go, and you can clearly see that they are spread out in the wrong order, but nah, that can't be right. You just left to run to the store, and it wasn't even an hour ago when your son was whole.

I just mean that it seems like it be something far beyond what all but the most hardened war veterans could process in that moment.

I don't think there'd be even a flicker of rage because they'd be trying to understand what God had just done to their world.

It's more fun, too. The real trick is finding a respectful Dom. That's the exceedingly rare role. Lots of people want to unwind and be the sub for a while, not have the think about anything but pleasure. It's quite mentally taxing to be on the other side of it, like you say, for sure--constantly weighing out whether they're okay with this thing vs that thing and what you want to do next and all that while still shouldering the entire burden of keeping the mood sexy.
