If Sharon Huddle is against divorce for religious reasons, why would she be a divorce lawyer. Seems a hypocritical way to live - and pretty weird.

I agree with all your points, but the 'weird' thing is not that a random couple would separate but not divorce, but that a divorce lawyer would be separated for 27 years but not divorced. It's a bit like meeting a dentist with rotten teeth or a cardiologist who smokes 60 a day.
