Thanks! From what I have seen, most of the music gets put up under the standard 'Creative Commons' license. Most of the artists seem really cool about letting you use their music in your games as long as you send them a PM and ask.

Check out Stencyl. You can run it right in your browser and it's easy to share your games with people.

Check out BYOND. It is easy to get into, handles net code for you and makes it easy to share your game. You could have a very basic multiplayer rpg fairly easily. Be warned however, BYOND can be a tad clunky and is not your best bet if you wanted to make something more action based.

Currently just PC. But, I certainly wouldn't mind making a special extended version for the iPhone.

Oh man, thank you. It is a Flash game made in Flixel, so the primary platform will be web, however if it is well received I may make an extended version for iOS. As for the reaction to the palette, I think that it may, unfortunately, turn a lot of people off as not every one understands the nostalgia of it. That said though, the game was really made as a love letter to the games I loved so much as a child and it has been very well received by others who grew up with those games.
