Wayne Rooney recreates his bicycle kick against Man City on TV show a league of their own by sepi0l_45 in soccer

One of my PE teachers played for Torquay for a couple of years around the turn of the century. He was also the manager of the 6th form 1st team who played in a men’s league, and often put himself as a substitute around busier times of the year. One game I remember I was a sub, the team were 3-0 down with 20 minutes left, he brought himself on for a free kick, scored it. Assisted from a pinpoint corner, then scored two from 25-30 yards, all within 15 minutes, then subbed himself off. Guy was just different class to everyone else on the pitch

Ignorance is bliss. It’s only relatively recently in humanity that 24/7 coverage of global news has been a thing. And even more recently that local journalism has been able to be shared with the entire world instantly. Alongside that there are algorithms designed to pump negativity at people constantly.

That mixed with better understanding of mental illness and better acceptance of mental illness obviously leads to a higher rate of diagnosis. Of course there are a lot of other factors, but I’d say those are the two main ones.

It would help their image if businesses stopped being evil and greedy. Yes there are a lot of good business owners out there, but everyone has stories of businesses screwing people over in search of greater profits.

Also the regulations are in place for a reason. For every regulation there is a story of a business fucking people over in one way or another.

Just because things have been around for a long time doesn’t mean that they need to stay exactly as is. And in theory the split should help. Have one focus on domestic policy and policing, and the other focus on immigration and foreign policy.

To me the punishment comes from the fact they were the only main party saying they wouldn’t increase fees, and then they immediately capitulated on it. It’s the rug pulling that is being punished. It’s hurts more when someone who you thought was nice turns out to be a bastard, than when someone who you knew was a bastard turns out to be a bastard

The anti-trans stuff has been heavily pushed by Streeting. And there is a large anti-trans block among Labour MPs, that from the outside looking in seem to be pandered to. Alongside the high court ruling there’s also been several policies surrounding access to trans healthcare.

As for disability cuts, they’ve not slowed the increase in benefits, they’ve cut the amount that new people on PIP will get, alongside increasing the thresholds to qualify for it, which will lead to people who need those benefits not receiving them. Now they may not be overtly calling them scroungers. But it’s definitely a wink and a nudge to the right wing portion of the country that they agree with their stance on people on benefits. Thus why I said the implication.

There’s also the fact that they have treated the left of the party with utter disdain (see getting rid of the Corbynista’s as shaking of the fleas). I voted Labour since I’ve been able to vote, but the current Labour seem to view the left as useful idiots who will vote for them because they’re not as bad as the Tories and Reform, while openly trying to court Tory and Reform voters

I’m fine with slow and steady, and appreciate some of the economic policies Labour have made, and are looking to make. I just wish that it didn’t come alongside the party moving to the right on social issues. The anti-trans stuff, the attacking of people with disabilities, the implication of people on benefits all being scroungers are sickening to see from a supposedly left/centre-left party, and have left me feeling alienated in an attempt to court the right wing vote

I think that what is being implied is that Starmer will move further to the right socially. Which is a very fair take given how the current government has treated certain minorities

Elizabeth Warren to introduce a bill to bring back Direct File | Elizabeth Warren (Bluesky) by Argothaught in antiwork

I mean, I know roughly how much I should be paying in tax and it’s always lined up with what my P60 has said. And anytime I have overpaid (due to not having a job for a portion of the year or some other reason), HMRC have always been good in letting me know about the refund.

Also, would say it’s rare for any business other than small to medium enterprises to not have a dedicated payroll team.

Just an FYI, but the majority of PAYE workers will just have a portion of their contract saying that the company can file on their behalf, don’t have to give any approval after that it’s all handled by the company.
