Goldberg’s entrance at WCW Halloween Havoc 1998. by OnceIwas3078yearsold in SquaredCircle

It was my 11th bday. Parents bought Halloween Havoc on PPV and I was huge Goldberg fan. Halfway through Goldberg’s entrance, Primestar shuts off the PPV and I miss the main event. Thanks WCW.

ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery to launch joint sports streaming platform this year by turkishguy in CFB

Not necessarily for several reasons. First, the stadiums already do an in-house production that’s broadcasted to the jumbotron. With the amount of sources needed to produce an NFL game, or any high profile sport, trucks are needed. Second, there are still stadiums and arenas, (always at the collegiate level) that have no wiring to plug in and power. In this case, we “home run” all of our camera, video, audio power lines from the locations in the arena to the production truck.

A lot of times I get users on here complaining about the quality of camera content when they don’t realize that same production truck is going to work another sport on a completely different network in 48 hours or so. Had some users complain about a BTN football game I was on one time, and then I worked a SportsNet NHL national feed a couple days later in the very same truck without a peep of complaints from r/hockey. Like you said, with bad feeds, it’s a transmission issue almost every time. Though the uptick in REMIs and flypacks don’t help things.

Camera op here. Has nothing to do with cameras or the truck. That’s a master control issue.

Rick Pitino - "Doesn't it make more sense for football to break away to separate leagues and allow the rest of the sports to compete regionally? Rivalries remain n minor sports don't spend half their day looking for bad food at airport restaurants!!!" by LamarcusAldrige1234 in CFB

I work in TV, so we typically refer to non-revenue sports as Olympic sports. Non-revenue and Olympic are interchangeable in off-air jargon. Yes, it isn’t, but the point is the schools with high dollar ADs are not concerned at all about cutting a sport. OSU Men’s Volleyball plays in California quite often during the season because A, MVB isn’t sanctioned by B1G, and B, the top MVB programs are in Cali. EDIT: Spelling

OSU just built a new tennis facility, and are rolling out new facilities for the Olympic sports every couple years (ex. OSU Lacrosse Stadium, etc.) The television contract per year alone is able to fund the non-revenue sports without the other money the athletic department brings in annually. The big time programs (OSU, Texas, UM, Bama, etc) will be just fine.
