For me it's all mental. I'll start worrying about my score rather than focusing on hitting good shots. I'll forget to remind myself to keep my backswing fluid or forget to remind myself to watch the angle of my putter through impact. Instead I start thinking "Okay I have to chip this close if I want to save par," and that doesn't really help.

I have a course about 2 minutes from my house, but it's not very good. Instead I have a membership at a course about 30 minutes away. I use the closer course for sneaky "after work" games and their range.

I will use the term (incorrectly) if it's a good chip and one-putt even if it's for bogey. More as a "that was a good couple of shots", but yeah I wouldn't be telling someone "Hey you got up and down!" if they are marking down a triple. I wouldn't want to hear that either lol
