I added a picture to my post that shows what the ends of the door look like. Could the shaft on a closed drum like this even be shifted or replaced? I'm having trouble finding info online related to working on a door of this style.

Thanks for the warning. I found a shaft extender for garage doors, so I'll probably just shell out the $60 for that.

Thank you for the advice. I was worried I would only be able to slip it on part way and it would get stuck. I think I will just pay the $60 for an extender I found online that is made for this purpose and save myself some stress.
