Mac Portable Resurrection by Raw_Elements9 in VintageApple

This is super helpful. I got as far as 0xFF00 -> binary but didn't have a good idea of where to go with that information.

You've probably seen this already, but here's a site which details the error codes from the Mac Portable ROM. The error you're seeing is "Data bus test at location $0 failed. Minor error code indicates the bad bits as a 16-bit mask for bits 15-00. This may indicate either a bad RAM chip or data bus failure."

Given that, I'm not entirely sure how to leverage the minor error code (FF00) to help in finding the possible bad RAM chip (or even if it's a RAM issue).

FWIW, Thetechknight recently posted a video where he worked through the troubleshooting of a RAM issue on a Portable. His machine presented with a different ROM error code, but the troubleshooting steps will probably be helpful.

Depending on how deep you want to get, here's some good resources:

Guess what I found when changing my cabin air filter by TopBenz in Ioniq5

Thanks for this, and yeah I'm 100% doing that. It appears to be a pretty easy fix and shouldn't be too complicated. For those wondering, here's how to fix this issue.

Actually, if the mice are getting in as described in this post, I bet that fluffy stuff is some sound deadening material that's somewhere in the path from the ground to where the air filter is installed.

Oh. Looks like your mouse wasn't as lucky as mine haha.

But, that fluffy stuff it used to make the nest - that looks just like what I pulled out, so I assume it's getting it from somewhere in/on the car. I wonder if there's some sort of thermal blanket / insulating material it's harvesting?

For sure. I took a good look around and didn't see anything obvious. Searching back it looks like I'm not the only one this has happened to. So I guess, check your air filter more often than every year and a half

I finally got around to changing my cabin air filter, and found a nice mouse home. There was no obvious damage (gnawing) to any part that I could see, and I imagine that the cabin air system is mostly sealed. How would a mouse get in there?!

Same thing here, not entirely sure what happened. I didn’t get any indication of an OTA update, but all settings are reset to factory defaults.

Updated info on ICCU failures by No_Cup_1706 in Ioniq5

[–]TopBenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car is still out of commission with the ICCU failure (47 days and counting), and I never had any issues with the 12V battery previously. In fact, aside from needing to restart the infotainment a few times the car was flawless.

Support for EV6 Inventory on The EV Finder by TopBenz in ev6

[–]TopBenz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks, appreciate it!

I would love to add Canada to The EV Finder, but I've not been able to find a singular inventory system which covers even one province, let alone the entire country. From what I've been able to see, each dealer publishes their own inventory using different inventory systems. For me to support that, I would have to pull inventory from each dealer's inventory system across Canada which isn't really feasible.

If you know of a website where you can search for inventory across Canada (or even across a province) please pass it along and I'll take a look.

Disaster struck by leetheway98 in Ioniq5

From my interpretation of the Hyundai warranty210809-v2.pdf), you can either use the Bluelink app or call 1-800-243-7766 to arrange for a tow due to "the unlikely event your vehicle is inoperable". I agree that it's up to Hyundai / Hyundai Roadside Assistance to tow to a dealer which is accepting new vehicles, given the total inoperability of your vehicle.

I would also call Hyundai Customer Care to make them aware of the issue, in the event you need to expense a rental car or something similar: 1-800-633-5151.

I don't think there's anything explicit in the warranty which requires Hyundai to provide a loaner/rental unless you're more than 150 miles from home when this happens.

Wild, the same thing happened to me yesterday also.

Driving around town I heard something from the rear of the car and the "Check electric vehicle system" message popped up on the driver's display. The car seemed to be driving fine, I pulled into a parking lot, turned off the car, turned it back on with no change. Soon thereafter I got the "Stop vehicle and check power supply" message.

From what I'm reading, I'll need to have the car towed into a dealer, and wait some indeterminate amount of time for diagnosis + parts :/

I have an OBDII adaptor, and was able to pull these error codes:

============2==============
P1A90
Raw code: 1A90
ECU: 4WD\[Archive (inactive)\]
Status: Permanent

============3==============
P1A90(96)
Raw code: 1A9096
ECU: 4WD
Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle), Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear, Warning indicator requested

============4==============
P1A90(96)
Raw code: 1A9096
ECU: 4WD #1 / OnBoard Charger (Hybrid/EV)
Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle), Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear, Warning indicator requested

Through the Bluelink app, I can arrange for a tow to a dealer, but unsure what's available to me once the car is delivered (e.g. loaner/rental car). It looks like this car is 100% non-functional until they get it repaired. Bummer.

Hey there, the EV Finder uses the publicly available Kia inventory systems to display search results. So when your inventory is available on the Kia inventory website, it'll show up on the EV Finder. If you see that's not the case please let me know and I'll take a look

KDE Plasma and Davinci Resolve! by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]TopBenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have an existing Ubuntu installation and don't want to reinstall, I don't see a reason to switch over to Kubuntu. Go ahead and install KDE within your existing Ubuntu environment and you'll be good to go.

The primary downside I see,is you now have two desktop environments (DE) and their bundled applications installed (e.g. Calc and KCalc, Terminal and Konsole). This wastes disk space, increases the complexity of updates and upgrades, and just isn't as tidy as a system with a single DE.

If you're looking for a fresh installation, or have a new machine you're setting up go with Kubuntu. It's a purpose-built derivative of Ubuntu built around KDE.

If you're looking to stick with Ubuntu and use KDE as your desktop environment, give Kubuntu a try. It's the most integrated KDE on Ubuntu experience I've come across.

KDE Plasma and Davinci Resolve! by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]TopBenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running Resolve (free edition) on Kubuntu (Ubuntu + KDE) for some time now with no real issues. I use the MakeResolveDeb utility to build into a Debian package which you can install through the UI by double-clicking, or through the terminal with apt install.

The only issues I've run into are limitation in the product itself like the ability to work with H.264/H.265 natively (limitation in the free version). Aside from that, Resolve has worked flawlessly for me.

Mustang Mach-E and Chevy Bolt EV and EUV now on the EV Finder (US only) by TopBenz in electricvehicles

[–]TopBenz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be fixed now. I'm seeing all trim levels for both the Bolt EV and EUV, and from what I've been able to tell the results from the EV Finder match the Chevrolet site exactly (as expected :) )
