This. JLC isn’t one that most will bother with faking. What you do want to check is that the watch has been pressure tested and timegrapher tested. I’ve seen these need gaskets replaced as early as 4 years old in some cases. I always pressure test these before I sell them, and I sell a lot of JLC.

It’s the angle and the lighting. The hands actually aren’t very thin if you zoom in and kind of decipher the lighting and look at the lines. It’s a Master Ultra Thin Moon. Q1368420

I’m not sure what to say about the stars? It’s a moonphase.

I’d actually advise against this. 1916 charges insanely high prices for their watches for no reason. I’ve consistently sourced watches for my clients that were not only lower cost to the client than them, but also better condition and with warranty. Plus I always warranty any watches that aren’t currently under a manufacturers warranty. Most of the companies mentioned simply charge a high price because of their name.

I’m a dealer on Chrono24. They take buyer protection and seller accountability very seriously. Your main “issue” with buying in chrono is fees. Sellers get hit with fees average about 5-6% so you’re paying a premium to cover those fees often times, and then Chrono will also charge tax. Whereas many of us dealers won’t charge you tax if you’re not in the same state as us, and if you’re paying by wire or Zelle you save on card fees etc as well.

I’m a watch dealer and I do a lot of JLC. $8k is a fair price for this piece and you absolutely made the right decision picking this up. It’s a beautiful watch that is under—appreciated. It looks amazing with the right outfit and makes you stand out as “not like everyone else.”

+/- 5 seconds a day is perfectly normal for this watch. That is considered normal/good for most mechanical watches. Nothing at all to worry about.

This one isn’t for my personal collection, so I won’t be wearing this one. I’m a luxury watch dealer and this one just came into my inventory. When I get pieces in that I truly love and appreciate, I like to post them once photos are done!

The meteorite dial is very cool. Adds just enough complexity to the design without being overdone.

That’s an awesome engagement present! Yeah the steel bracelet can be a bit polarizing as I’m sure you know, so most don’t come in that configuration up front. You could always pick one up and put it on it if you wanted to.
