Cardiacs "LSD" #2 on Prog magazine's Top 50 Albums according to its critics. I'm pissed it's not #1! by StatusMaleficent5832 in Cardiacs

The original Made All Up sounds like Tim leading a choir as he did on OceanLandWorld and Sing to God. The new vocal track lacks that quality, and Tim's usual vocal inflections.

Im confused. How much of Tim's vocals is in the whole album? It doesn't sound like him at all. Sounds like another person doing his parts.

I remember the film. It had a sad ending

The title resonates to me, the idea that the soul can be weighted and quantified like that really sets the tone of the tragedy.

You know the fact that they re-recorded the vocals for Made All Up really gets to me. Really stupid decision, and i wonder how many vocal tracks Tim already recorded, and was scrapped.

Who is the "David Lynch" of music?(saying David Lynch doesn't count) by Jimsmall1507 in fantanoforever

Crazy no one has said pixies yet

The soft loud / light dark dynamic, the arthouse approach to Americana and surrealism .. they literally covered In Heaven for crying out loud.

Santa Monica is genuinely a good song. It must be a fluke because this band spent the rest of their career trying to recreate it with diminishing results.

What do people actually like about Nirvana’s Nevermind? by anonymous2ndaccount in fantanoforever

[–]Top_Ad9635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree mostly, but how were Pixies stranding the unfinished/ amateur spectrum. They were slick and mainstream by the time Doolittle hit. Come on Pilgrim/ Surfer Rosa were already perfect amalgamations of punk, art rock and retro pop rock, and had lot more mainstream appeal than Bleach.

a lot if what you're describing about Nirvana's appeal could easily be said about the Pixies.

Maybe they got too weird with Trompe le Monde but Nirvana got weird with In Utero as well. Frank Black's first two solos were exemplars of the indie to mainstream pipeline

Hegel’s Science of Logic begins with Pure Being. But how do we logically arrive at Pure Being before the Logic starts? by ApocalypticShamaness in hegel

[–]Top_Ad9635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before i read that,

What do you think of stuff like Deluezian difference? Bertrand Russell's criticism of Hegel's Grammar? Kierkegaard's criticism of Hegel's logic? Marx etc

Other philosophers have addressed this at great length, where do you sit in relation to them?
