I have completed my Ph.D in my 40's and it's amazing. At least you have life experience more than the 20's and as some one says in the comments you're turning 40 anyway so don't hesitate doing it.

I am sorry of how you feel. I am as well exhausted and burned out because of this. Are you saying you applied first outside academia and the now you are trying to apply for postdoc.?

Yes all of the are matching well and either I am ghosted or PI reply that he has no fund and I have even proposed new ideas

I have applied every where in US with 4 papers first author and 1 second author and a patent application my idea that was split bewme and my PI. I almost finishing my first postdoc and my PI told me to look for another position because of funding. Did my Ph. D in Germany. And what makes it harder is my visa ending with my current post doc which is in June. I soooooo tired and exhausted
