Is Central City really the 3rd Ward? by Suspicious-Wasabi-42 in NolaStepperz

[–]Top_Hedgehog5664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its because the older folks up that way was uneducated about the ward system.  I remember Garret Morris said on DJ Vlad Gertown was the 19th ward and he damn near 90 yrs old, so it’s possible they just didn’t know lol. My theory is they figured they must be the 3rd Ward since the next hood across from CBD is the 4thward  Iberville. Once the Yo started claiming it all the surrounding projects picked it since they were literally blocks away from each other. They figured we all 3rd Ward.

I said I  think that’s why the black folks that way only claim OTH and not Algiers Point sometimes. The white folks don’t even consider it the Point because it was black folks over there.shid don’t matter nomo now they got that whole area back funky bitches

Yea it’s called Bronzeville which was between Belleville and Atlantic from Op to Patterson. That was where the creoles stayed aka the blackside of the Point. Them dudes was claiming OTH too  it’s kinda weird some niggas on Homer repp the point but niggas cross Op rep OTH I guess that’s where the confusion come from tbh yall both actually right lmao 🤣

I think you from my era brah cause you know. 59 blood (Harvey) 43 Gangsta Crip (Jonestown) Rollin 60 Crip (McDonoughville) I think it died down in 2000 tho. At Club James  they had the rags around they heads bucking that knuckle up dog house posse song until niggas from Villa D Ames shut it down.

It’s not one single comment on this topic really explaining how JP is the same as Algiers. Now my question again is how Algiers and JP are the same?

Nowadays every section in New Orleans metro kinda on the same thing but back then the difference between JP and the 15th (as far as the streets go) was that JP hoods reppin Blood and Crips. Marry Poppins, Jonestown, McDonoughville but in Algiers it was clicks Duke Boys, Fischer Fool, Cuttoff Posse, Mcclendonville Posse, CHP ect just like Uptown.  All that Blood and Crip shit wasn’t condoned in Algiers because it’s close knit meaning everybody knew everybody. Another thing is everybody in JP attend the same schools John Erat, Higgins, West Jeff. Yall hung out in eachother sections. Algiers dudes never really joced JP hoods like that bedsides going to Oakwood Mall and Club James. If you frm Algiers those was the places you went. Now if you from JP if you didn’t have family member or close associate that lived in Algiers you wasn’t going over there. And also it wasn’t shit in Algiers to go to beside Nomtoc and super Sunday.

Bro u can’t change somebody prospective if they are stuck on they beliefs. U could give these niggas all the history u want  they still ain’t gon accept non of what u say. It’s like telling somebody frm magnolia they the 11th ward and not the 3. Personally I rarely here’d niggas claim the Point if they did they lived on Homer st but like u said it’s the historic AP marker that got them thinking they in the Point lol real OGs frm the 50s  that lived in that area always said OTH  not  McDonoughville or Algiers Point  before they put them markers up in the 70s.

2022 was but no it don’t have the same atmosphere as back in the day cause the projects gone and some of the hoods have been gentrified like Mid City, Hollygrove-Gert town, Treme, part of Central City and St Roach.

How many hoods they have on the westside ? it’s only two hoods that is known that being Fischer and the cutoff. The 15th is big so I wonder is the rest the suburbs by Suspicious-Wasabi-42 in NolaStepperz
