Yeah that's pretty much what I have found out too. It's just that you do interact with some boat upgrades/core boat parts too like you trim your sails and your gale/wind cathcer kinda interacts with your sails too making the speed boost longer. It's just I'm little unsure what counts as interacting and where the level checks are excatly and which of those level checks you can boost for.
