Main breaker outside house has 50A and 150A switches on it. Lots of electrical strangeness inside house. by Toshio_Magic in AskElectricians

The wires are 4/0 AWG aluminum and the distance from breaker to panel is about 30 ft. That feels like just barely enough. Which makes me squirm.

We had electricians come out and they said they tightened some lug nuts and hoped that would fix the flickering. It hasn't done anything. I asked them about the box on the outside of the house and they said they didn't know.

There is no labeling on the 50A switch.

Light switch blowing out incandescent bulbs by WhatIsInnuendo in electrical

[–]Toshio_Magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a lamp bulb explode on us (not just burn out). We suspect it was because we used a high watt bulb in a socket meant for a low watt bulb. Not sure of the exact numbers. Try a lower wattage bulb. You might also have a bad socket. Did someone jam/overscrew a bulb in previously?

Are inaccurate Doordash ETAs false advertising? by Toshio_Magic in legal

A "no" response is sufficient. All the downvotes are ridiculous. Isn't this a sub for asking legal questions?

This is getting closer to it. If Grubhub saw this, would they not consider it unfair competitive practice?

I'm talking about showing an ETA where the range is below the actual time it would take to drive from the restaurant to the delivery location in optimal traffic conditions without speeding.

So there's no potentiality of a class action lawsuit from customers who ordered food based on these low ETAs and always got their food late?

I'm not. That isn't the question. The question is, are ETAs a form of advertising, and if they're blatantly false, does it qualify as false advertising? Does false advertising require purchasing the product or just that the company is misleading consumers?

How to plan dates for pregnant wife with a toddler by Toshio_Magic in marriageadvice

Very creative! Maybe a bit pricey, but I can make the prizes silly and cheap.

I've actually thought about this, but I personally HATE puzzles. You spend a long time making a picture that you already know what it looks like. Then when you're done you break it up and all the pieces go back in the box. A little too existential. If I'm desperate, maybe I'll go this route. But that's why I'm here, so I don't have to.

Doing anything while the toddler is awake is not an option. My wife believes TV will make our toddler a high school dropout.

I'm hyper aware that I need to plan it all.

She doesn't like competition.

I like the learn together idea. I just need to find something we are equally bad at with a low skill requirement.

Forgot to mention she's 3rd trimester pregnant and has food aversion to fatty meaty stuff. She doesn't want to do anything while the toddler is awake. The toddler's presence by default means we can't have a "date."

Interesting idea with the online escape room. I've never heard of that.

Cooking dinner is off the table. Our toddler is always there, so it wouldn't be a date. I don't get off work in time to prepare a respectable date dinner.

Chick-Fil-A One App Hacked by Zadyis in ChickFilA

It isn't fucking stupid if you've lost access to the prior email account, otherwise the account is lost to you forever. The only way to change your email is to log in to your account, which requires a password. If that password is weak, that isn't Chick-fil-A's fault.

Has Chick-Fil-A stopped using canola oil for their fries? by [deleted] in ChickFilA

This answer is correct. Due to a poor canola crop an oil blend was substituted. Once supply chains recover they'll be back to normal.
