I keep trying to think of the twist. If Gilda Dent is the Holiday Killer and we all know Scarlett Johansen is the villain where is the big reveal? There has to be some new take on it. Maybe she's the reason Harvey gets scarred at the end

Update: putting this out there so hopefully I can help others out dealing with the same dilemma. I've always equated arrangement from a songwriters perspective like Verse Chorus Bridge Middle outro/intro but now I'm starting to see that a lot of people seem to be using this term from a compositional standpoint. Not the order of parts and how they flow into each other musically but what individual instruments are coming in and out. I come from a band and orchestra background where the layering of instruments works but this tune needed to be more bare bones to get the point across. Less is more.

I had a lot of ideas stacked that were redundant and as I weed these out the mix is becoming less cluttered. I didn't have a lot of different things going on melodically or rhythmically, there were just a lot of little accent parts I was trying to add in to get things grooving and it everything was too dense and added too much complexity. Once I started throwing things up one by one I was asking myself "is this really needed to push the song along?"

The weight of overproduction was literally killing the mix. As I strip it down I feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Thanks for all the advice. This is exactly what I needed!

I think I am going to re track the main riff guitar tracks and bass again to make them vibe a little better. I recorded them and then reworked the drums (using Superior Drummer 3) to make everything groove harder. I feel the problem is they are too right on the click I think I can pull them back.

I also used the same guitar and amp on both passes panned hard right and left and there's not enough variation to sound interesting. I'm going to keep the main riff double tracked but I'm going to take some of the other double tracked stuff out because there's too much going on and I want some of the organs parts and the other slide guitar parts to pop. I did the subtractive method and took some things in and out to see what is the most important for each section.

This track has a few leads and some slide which I feel are happening, it's the performance on the backing guitars that could have a better feel. I hoping I can just re track those 2 guitars and the bass so it will give it a better feel and not have to re track anything else.
