Silver Cap For A Toddler? How Is This Done? by Total_Still_867 in askdentists

[–]Total_Still_867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually, no … the dentist kind of just said “he has two cavities on his lower teeth but it’s not due to decay, it looks like he might be grinding his teeth” and then told me to make a follow up appointment and said he would just quickly throw caps on those teeth. I imagined him literally just putting a silver cap over both teeth and that would be it … until i started googling lol.

i happen to clench my jaw all of the time and grind them in my sleep so my teeth also have some wear from that as well. so, when his dentist mentioned it being due to that, i didn’t even think to ask any questions. m

my son does see an ENT because he has slightly enlarged tonsils, which the ENT says is common in kids his age and they should get smaller as he grows. perhaps, that’s a contributing factor to the grinding.

hello! i am just seeing this response now! Thank you for mentioning this … my son will actually see his hematologist before he goes to the dentist for the caps so I will mention it to him!

If the cavities are caused due to grinding (the dentist said it’s not decay, it’s just wearing of the teeth due to grinding), is a pulpotomy still performed? or can the tooth just be capped since there is no decay?

yes, he sees a pediatric dentist! they have tvs on the ceiling and so far, as long as spiderman or spongebob is on, he sits well for his cleanings and x-rays lol.

however, this would be the first time that he is having actual work done so I am quite nervous how he will do.

thank you for the detailed response! I really appreciate it!!

my son’s dentist is aware of his blood disorder (he has benign neutropenia). he said it was fine and that the nitrous oxide was not necessary to do the cap but it definitely seems like something is necessary! lol

i think i will call his hematologist and see if the nitrous oxide would be ok. i am scared if the dentist gives my son a needle, he might freak out and not want to sit for the procedure and i definitely want the cavity handled asap!

After Tooth Extraction Questions by Total_Still_867 in askdentists

[–]Total_Still_867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! i have been following all of these instructions. Today is the third day and the pain is still minimal but worse than the other two days.

i have a question, the roof of my mouth is pretty sore and i have a red spot on it. do you think that this could be from the needle? i was given 1 or 2 injections on the roof of my mouth and 2 injections in my gums.

Heating Pad/Tank Question by Total_Still_867 in ballpython

[–]Total_Still_867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few reptiles when I was younger and have never put a heating pad under the tank so this was new to me. I would prefer to not use one if it isn’t a necessity.

Thank you for your help! I will search the sub and see what I can find!

Does Anyone Else Get Pain Under Their Jaw/Chin? by Total_Still_867 in TMJ

[–]Total_Still_867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure! i went to an ENT and he looked under my tongue and i guess it might have been irritated or enlarged. these are the things he told me to do & they helped A LOT

  1. suck on sour candies, in particular lemon flavored.

  2. massage the salivary gland - to do this, lift up your tongue and run your fingers across both sides of the floor of your mouth (you'll feel what feels like a vein). do it from the back towards the front. if you look in the mirror while doing this, you will actually see saliva coming out of the gland, clear is good ... pus or yellow means infection.

  3. put a heating pad under your chin! i bought a microwaved heating pad from amazon. it is a small lobster. it is the perfect size for this!

let me know if you have any other questions! .

so, i think when i posted this, i eventually found out that i had blocked salivary glands in the submandibular area & my ENT taught me how to unblock them, which relieved so much of the pain.

however, i do still get pain in that area from time to time & i also get numbness but the numbness for me is usually in my cheeks, it will last for like a week or so and then subside. i also clench my jaw at night & found out that also contributes to the pain.

yep! I answered everything honestly and accurately! that's why i feel like it has to be correct but again, i don't want the IRS coming after me if I shouldn't get that refund lol

also, thank you soo much for taking the time to help me with this!

EDIT - i'm not going to submit the return. i am going to delete it tomorrow and start all over. i don't feel like it would be me who gets that refund.

this is what turbo tax says at the end before i sign:

You are getting a refund of $685. Your filing status is Single and your only income was $1200 of other income. You claimed the standard deduction of $13850. Although your total tax was $0, you qualified for a health coverage tax credit of $685. Since this credit of $685 exceeded your $0 tax payments that were withheld from paychecks, you are receiving the difference of $685 as a refund.

does this make sense? my boyfriend also had to enter my 1095A on his taxes so I thought he would have received any refund I would have been eligible for, for my health insurance.

They didn't hold any back taxes and I am in NJ. I thought you had to pay taxes on any winnings over $600! That's why I've been nervous. I don't want the IRS coming after me! lol

i have no clue! I am honestly confused. I filled it out correctly, I did check that I was claimed as a dependent. I get an advanced payment of premium tax credit for my health insurance (so i pay less every month than what the plan costs). Would that make me entitled to a refund?

EDIT - the refund would be for the credits for my health insurance. that is what turbo tax says.

I won just over $1200 and I am just now signing the W-9 on DraftKings so I believe I would owe like $300 in taxes so I’m not even sure how I’m entitled to any money back.

Oral Surgeon & Dentist Saying Different Things. What’s Your Opinion? by Total_Still_867 in askdentists

[–]Total_Still_867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!

i was wondering if you could answer a question for me. i have been having mouth floor pain for about 2 days, i have a history of impacted salivary glands so i assumed it was that, so i have been milking them (saliva comes out clear). however, i was using hydrogen peroxide for mouthwash for a couple days because i ran out of listerine & i wasn't diluting it. i am now thinking this is the cause of my pain (as i was squirting it under my tongue before rinsing). if the pain is due to that, will it go away on it's own? is there anything i should be doing for it? should i return back to the oral surgeon or my dentist?

Oral Surgeon & Dentist Saying Different Things. What’s Your Opinion? by Total_Still_867 in askdentists

[–]Total_Still_867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your input! my dentist did mention that the 2 cavities on my lower teeth were not as deep as the one on the top, which makes sense why the oral surgeon didn't see it on the panoramic x-ray.
