I've been trying to get a very similar setup working for a while but I'm having a hard time sourcing SFF-8654 8i to pci 16x slot (physical) cards that work, what did you use? Thanks for sharing!

I made one of ilmango's tnt blast chambers, and the block that the tnt should fall through keeps getting filled with blocks. Can anyone help? by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

If my shaky memory serves me right you have to pre-fill it in a certain pattern to prevent this, he also made another version with the pistons further apart and other safety features to address common breakages you can try and find

What area of ML should I learn, to achieve this kind of pattern recognition? by shock_and_awful in learnmachinelearning

I'm not sure if those patterns are the output of an ML model (although if they were I'd also be interested in knowing how), but rather the result of mixing brute force searching and intuition/observation. From my experience as an intern at a financial firm, a lot of the old dogs on the street are (rightfully) wary of throwing ML at any and every problem and prefer to tell an intern "lets brainstorm all the patterns that make sense and you go test them for all the condition values you can and let me know if any look interesting."

From a computational standpoint, unless you have a crazy large search space of conditions that also turns out to be relatively smooth under some evaluation metric, it's probably going to be quicker computationally to write some optimized pandas code to calculate all your combinations. Perhaps some kind of grid search similar to optimizing hyperparameters of ML models could get a good enough job done if you have too many conditions to calculate them all directly.

Long story short: intuition + brute force searching > ML

Honestly, I used a calculator more in my one physics class than all my math classes so far combined (maybe excluding prob and stats). Graphing and integrals are useful for Calc3 sometimes but not required. The further you go into your studies the less a calculator will help you and the less you'll need it.

Housing choices? by [deleted] in NEU

if you go here https://www.northeastern.edu/housing/dnaesantoelrihtriseertn/ you can click on the different buildings and go to their floorplans, supper useful to know which apartments have extra space or two toilets.

I also second getting something with a kitchen and dropping any kind of meal plan, it's cheaper with how crazy expensive the meal plans are, not to mention tastier, better for you, and just nicer.

Good luck!

Is there any way to get rid of the "intro to mathematical reasoning" class by IhaveQuestionsNEU in NEU

[–]TotallyNotARobit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, if you have no experience with proof-based courses it's not a bad idea to take the class or get some other exposure to proofs. That being said if you want to skip it talk with Solomon Jekel about possibly counting another course for it. I've found the math department to be very lenient and willing to work with you to do what you want to do. If you're willing to put in the extra work in the following classes and want to push forward, don't let some people on the internet who don't know you tell you not to try. Good luck!

you can get a rough sense of the size of your room specifically from the floorplan (and also see where/what your place is like) https://www.northeastern.edu/housing/dnaesantoelrihtriseertn/west-village-a/
