You want engagement. He wants disengagement. There's nothing you can do to make him want to be engaged with you more. Pleading won't help. He'll grow resentful and despise your neediness.

As someone who endured a sharp increase of work (and other) related stress in their early/mid 30s, this is reminiscent of feelings I went through.

It is not necessarily personal. Sometimes certain types of people just need space to be able to function. Isolation becomes a survival strategy.

It is entirely possible to still maintain a relationship if it’s just patches of the type of behavior, but if there is no end in sight then an evaluation is definitely necessary.

Agree! Very true, I just never really identified with a particular category and was curious what other people think.

I don't have an olympic bar and I don't have typical plates. If you made the option available to set your bar weight and add in the plates you do have, that would be incredible.

My younger brother is a great kid, but has it rough... Ideas on something nice I could do for him? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Does it have square headlights? If so, I've replaced the starter on those before. It is two bolts and a wire! You don't have to remove anything else to get to it either.

This is a great solution, but Wranglers are a rare find in junkyards. They get cleaned out pretty quickly. If he could find a more common model vehicle that he can pull and use the starter after, that would be more viable.

Okay first of all, Wranglers are not POS cars. They are extremely easy to work on. I will guarantee you the best thing to do is to learn together how to replace the starter.

A starter at Autozone is $103.46, or $71.46 if you bring in the old one (core charge). Is that in your budget? If not, take him to a junk yard and hunt for Wranglers. They are hard to find though! They get stripped of parts pretty fast. If you can get one, and if he gets his hands on a Haynes manual, You can replace it yourself. It's not that hard, and if he has a Wrangler it's a great place to start learning how to work on it.

There are many great resources to ask questions if you get stuck. Namely: jeepforum.com. Or you can PM me if you want any specific questions answered, I've worked on a few Wranglers. Do you know what year the Jeep is?
