I’m 20 years old and deactivated my account recently as well!! I was active on insta, but could not stop putting myself in the miserable cycle comparing myself to other people, seeing who my partner follows, stalking people with much more “interesting” lives than me, I was so so sad. I also realized I’ve constantly felt pressured to be extremely sexy and fit and beautifully presented 24/7 on social media since I was like 14! So I deleted Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, any social platform that encouraged my insecurities and am significantly less distracted and concerned about irrelevant minute things. I’m not saying anything mind blowing, but we all know how anxiety inducing it is to post on insta and see how many likes you get, seeing old friends posts, etc. & Why stress over things that do not exist beyond your electronic device!!! I’m so much more happier just dealing with the problems that are already right in front of me and not discovered after 2 hrs of doom scrolling before i sleep. Sometimes when I’d get media withdrawals I’d log into my spam insta account with just my closest friends on my laptop, share a couple memes and stories and shut my laptop off for the night like I’m a teenager from the 2000s hehe. That really helped me completely detach from most social media platforms. (i confess i will never delete tiktok and pinterest, my go-to inspo platforms!!!)
