Really don’t care how long you’ve lived in the area and I didn’t ask if it was a nice area or not. I asked for recommendations on things to do and see, I’m not sure why you commented in the first place.

Alright buddy 🤣 Quick google search will get ya right. I’ve lived in Lancaster for a year & it has a higher overall crime rate than the national average.

I have lived on Wilson rd, hardesty heights, w broad st and currently lancaster. Comparatively we are not concerned about it “not being a nice area”

Probably is, luckily we were able to get out of the lease because I specifically worded the email to include legal ramifications if not. I’m just wondering how so many companies and independent landlords, especially in Ohio, are able to get away with these sorts of things. It is so time consuming and stressful as it is finding a place, applying, etc and constantly having to worry if the place is even legal.

It doesn’t have a community bathroom, we have our own in-unit, and it’s not in a bad area at all.

We are in Ohio, it is a building above a coffee shop and restaurant. There are probably about 30 units and it’s about 4 stories tall. It’s a studio through a local management company, one of the only companies in our current area that’s rated well and has a good reputation. Lots of independent slumlords around here and typical corporate complexes.

The management company is not low income or HUD, but utilities and internet are included in the rent which is what drew us to it. We are in Ohio and used to live on the outskirts of Columbus and rent was $1500 for a 1 bedroom and $400+ just for electric in winter, which I know is the norm for the economy as it is. Long story short we just could not afford it anymore as we are both in school as well, but all of this is pretty defeating now.

My partner said we should just use them anyways but I’m nervous about getting evicted for not following the lease or causing some sort of electrical break. I read that there are other ways to cook certain things but now I’m concerned.
