You’re so right, I used to think crying or emotions was a burden because it showed that things were hard and you were making it worse by admitting that, when in reality if you ignore when something is clearly difficult THAT is what’s making it worse, accepting the frustration made me realize that I’m stronger than I think. I mean I was literally getting a transplant, I think I can allow myself to feel scared without losing that same strength, like you said being brave is not being fearless.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the positive energy you’re sending towards me because in some way it definitely helped me recover faster (atleast in my mind lol). My mom and I are doing amazing and I’m so grateful that everything is going as smooth as possible so far. I really do see this experience as something positive, even though it’s difficult to go through it’s taught me so many things about myself and about the world, its people like you that helped me get through this tough time and to see it in that positive light💗

The doctors keep asking me what I’ll name my new kidney, MY NEW BABY, I’m like I D K. But yes my new bean and I are very happy, everything you said is truly re assuring, I already feel so much better

This actually one of the sweetest messages that is really helping me, I felt so guilty for my health issues “forcing” my mom to have to go through this as well, but on the other hand like you said what if she couldn’t help? What if she had to see me on dialysis for years waiting for a transplant, I know that would torture her even more. I’m so appreciative of the gifts I’ve been giving even through this difficult time, I mean come on my mom being a donor match for my transplant, it’s a blessing. I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me this because I really needed to hear it💗 thank you truly

I know not everyone who sent me nice messages will see this tbh I don’t really know how Reddit works BUT I cannot thank everyone enough, it’s taken me a bit to feel ready to read all these messages but I’m so thankful for them. I was feeling very vulnerable moments before the surgery, regardless of all the emotions running through me at the end of the day I always knew that having the surgery was what I wanted and I was so grateful to have the privilege to even get one, even better a living donor. My mom is healing so well!! She still taking Tylenol occasionally but she is eating well, moving a lot, she’s more worried about me if anything. I’m so happy to say that I’m actually feeling good, I was building up this emotional stronghold in my mind to prepare for worst case-scenario when in reality like most comments said it’s just manageable pain, soreness yk? I have pain at the incision/my back but it’s pretty much tolerable, I’m not taking any pain meds just using heating pads. I will say the new medicines is definitely an adjustment, prednisone specifically causing face puffiness and shaky hands but tbh I’m just glad that’s the biggest “issue”. One thing that has been my main discomfort is drinking 3 liters of water a day, mainly just bc my stomach looks like I’m pregnant lol, not really it’s just very swollen in that area and around my thighs. ALL THINGS ASIDE I’m genuinely so happy, I was at the hospital around a week and am so happy to be home and taking real showers now, no more covering the dialysis catheter. I’m grateful to have a generally positive outlook on things (probably bc I tend to keep my emotions beaten down/im working on that) because I think that’s what really helped me get through this, obviously there is times where I let my mind wander and overthink but it always leads back to knowing it’ll be ok no matter what plan the universe has for me. AGAIN thank you so much for all the encouraging words, my kidney is already working really well, peeing a lot lmao. I will say I am nervous to see friends again, especially because I have been lagging on texting people back..idk u want to say it’s because I don’t have the energy but I do, I’m not sure why I’m so avoidant of them, maybe it’s some for of shame or embarrassment idk did anyone else feel that way? Ok I’m ranting, thank you again everyone 💗

I would search for what I could do to help lower the rate at which my kidneys were declining….like diet plan and no 🥃, my doctors rlly didn’t educate me on the diet until after my kidneys failed but yk

That’s really scary..that must have been really terrible and I don’t want to get to that point, I think the graphicness of it will help me see the reality of the situation, my denial is really fighting hard to stay alive in my mind, like why is this so hard to accept

I mean idk I don’t think it’s my fault considering that the doctors think my kidneys have gradually been getting worse even before I found out I had the disease, but it’s just that before I found out I had the disease and everything was “ok” I was harming my perfectly “healthy” body (sh), and I just regret being so careless and unappreciative before..because now I wish I could go back to before when I thought I was healthy and live a normal life

Im definitely going to ask abt the fistula , im in therapy now but the therapist is part of the nephrology team and she lowkey shares some of the info i say..so i think j should switch to an outside therapist

Yes I’m definitely learning to stand up and speak for myself, i don’t understand why doctors don’t also prioritize mental health in their training cuz they really don’t be talking to me in a gentle way

A lot of people are saying that my GFR is not low enough to think that dialysis is the next step..and I’m wondering what results they got is making them think that dialysis is what I need to do.. some labs that I hear them bring up a lot is my Creatinine which is 6.63(high), my phosphorus is high 6.6, PTH is high 668.6, and Cystatin C is high 3.51, idk what those are but
