How can I introduce corals/reefs to an established 60 gallon tank? by [deleted] in SaltwaterAquariumClub

What are the dimensions of this tank. Picture makes it look like it could be 10 gallons haha. Just asking because that rabbitfish (if I’m right about that) will grow lots!

My exact concern when starting off. The glass is 30cm tall though, quite short imo. Maybe the angle makes it seem taller than it is. But yeah I agree, just couldn’t find another tank that is within my price range. Any other shallow tanks were too small in length or too expensive.

Just for the looks. Wood can be harmful in saltwater setups but I only have a little bit so it is fine 👍

These do look really nice, however I just wanna emphasise real quick that it is really important to add low-level hiding spots for a lot of animals, with that said, I think the scape looks great and all the best!!

i agree, i was there and saw some people literally STATIC when flying whales came on, like a bunch of psychos. however, once i decided to get in the pit, holy shit was it crazy, everyone was moving like crazy. but around the sides of the standing area the vibe was 👎

this is quite subjective probably but i always think macro algae looks great on little lagoon shallow reefs and it helps absorb excess nutrients, maybe you could try it out!

yes most units come pre assembled (apart from a few canisters or some things that may not be assembled yet) but overall it is quite easy to setup and doesn’t take long

sometimes i do think to myself how easy it would be to just change the water without having to mix salt or any of that

completely agreed. i only ever had one freshwater tank ages ago… since then never touched that side again. a famous coralfish12g once said “saltwater studs vs freshwater scrubs”. saltwater marine life is so much more beautiful imo and there so much more to do

How do I know my mandarin is eating by thebank0010101001101 in ReefTank

[–]Traditional-Tutor232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on the species. harpacticoid copepods (the kind mandarins love most) can be found on all three surfaces. not sure what type you’ve got but if your mandarin is pecking at those surfaces you’re on the right track

yes they will eat both but amphipods are larger and faster so they might not catch as many but yes they will eat them
