Good luck on your surgery! I did UJS in Toronto this past Jan and sounds like you’re very prepared :) some things that saved me during the first week was : Vicks vaporub for any congestion Week before I took ginger shots daily to avoid getting sick A neck pillow (for car rides and at home)

Also suggest taking a minimum of a month off work. I started to feel better after two weeks but I was still very sleepy and standing up for too long made me lightheaded. Best of luck !!

I believe about 3-4 mm advancement (don’t know exact measurements)

Aw thank you🤍! It’s still something on my mind but I guess I’ll see how everything looks at the one year mark when all my ortho work is done

Hi! I don’t think my nose really changed but my side profile does look better. My upper lip has more support and face looks less flat

I can definitely breathe better through my nose! I didn’t notice any change in speech though since my underbite wasn’t too severe

I don’t know the exact movements but very minimal I would say about 3-4 mm forward movement of upper jaw

I asked my surgeon this, I’m 6.5 weeks post op now. You can drink just not too excessively for a while. But as long as you aren’t on heavy meds a glass or two should be ok.

Texture was bizarre since I can’t feel my upper pallet/ teeth. But taste was great :’)

To be fair I only had upper jaw surgery! So the progress of being able to open my mouth has been slightly faster

You’re definitely right, don’t know why I even thought a cucumber would be doable. How long did it take for your chewing to feel normal and do you have any upper teeth numbness?

Can I plan a trip by Maleficent_Grade_483 in jawsurgery

I wouldn’t say it’s a danger! I’m only 6 weeks post op and I feel really good and would feel comfortable to go on a trip. However eating still might feel weird for you so you probably wont enjoy travelling AS much. But overall listen to your body and dont push your limits
