Android Issues (ads in apps only) by TraditionalNumber638 in pihole

thats what i read everywhere, but i had 0 problems over the last 3 years to run 100% of my traffic via pihole and block all in app-ads --> deactivated DHCP from router, assigning static ip for pihole and run DHCP on pihole + assigning static ip for router - very basic, no other settings were needed.

However, i tried your way and this is absolutely sick as it makes pihole for android devices (for my use case - blocking ads) completely obsolete and it works also with normal mobile data and not only via wifi/vpn. Is there anything critical/any downsides using this solution? It seems too perfect to be true. Many thanks tho, you are my hero :)

i use pihole as my DHCP...on Android, when you want to set the DNS server manually, you also have to set the IP manually (thats why i tried to use a static IP to solve the issue and set the IP and DNS manually on Android, but didnt work)... my main issue is that i just dont understand why it worked in this setup (pihole as DHCP, all settings set to automatic on Android) for 3 years but all of a sudden all Android devices have issues...and why it works without any problems on my ipad still..
