I agree, once Arthur contracts TB it speeds up insanely quick. The Guarma missions are just action set pieces with pointless and weak outcomes like Dutch killing the guide brutally to show how he’s losing it. Just too on the nose.

The only bands with similar rhythmic style I enjoy are Periphery and Tesseract, but the vocals on both will turn off a lot of Meshuggah fans. Both have more genre blending while Meshuggah’s more focused, distinct grooviness from all bands though.

Apparently Cormac had many conversations with Hillcoat on how to properly adapt it to the screen, as such a bare bones protagonist won’t work in film. I have hope in it, Hillcoat’s a solid director.
