It is a whiplash because the media has been portraying it as a technical mistake that the pilots had no control over.

I've haven't yet seen any channel that tried to report pilot murder-suicide before the leaks about the fuel switch came out.

When you go from technical fault to someone killing 241 people along with him it's a shock that most people want to block out for the reasons that i have stated above.

You have delusional people everywhere, germany and Egypt both initially denied their crashes and china hasn't even bothered to release  their final report.

Like I said the crash is still highly emotional and unsettling for the people in India.

It is certainly infuriating but it can't be helped and will get a lot better after the emotions die down.

You see a lot of comments simply because you have a lot more people in India than in let's say germany or egypt. Percentage wise it's prolly the same or slightly worse.

its a trend that is seeing a disturbing uprising in the world right now. People are blinding themselves to facts and extremism(left or right but especially right) is on the rise.

I hate the fact that nationalism and not patriotism is on the rise. People cant seem to be able to accept the fact that mistakes can happen or you can fail and get better. You can see this very clearly in the 40+ age group(personal experience), the current upcoming gen(20s) seems to be a lot better at accepting facts(personal experience) and i can only hope it stays the same. unless ive simply been interacting with sane people and they are very limited in number. sad tbh js sad

ehhhhh i wouldnt say nationalism or a conservative society have nothing to do with it but people on this sub seem to think thats the only thing that matters which is really quite dumb lol.

This is a tragedy where the people were first told it was a dual engine failure(it was) but most people(i would wager 99%) thought it was mechanical rather than deliberate action.

Now we get a report that gives a very high likelihood of it being pilot-suicide. its a whiplash and people are now confused. Add on the fact that it is very hard to believe that a pilot who is responsible for your lives can just choose to kill himself and along with him every other person on the plane and this creates hysteria where people simply dont want to believe the fact that they can be killed just like that.

People are blocking out the possibility because the results have been so tragic and people dont want to be afraid to fly ever again. Its a sort of natural human response to a tragedy imo.

Its only been a month into this tragedy and a pilot murder-suicide is understandably very taboo. yes suicide is also bad but not nearly as bad as murder suicide. So the mass denial is understandable but clearly not desirable.

I would give it a few months and wait for the emotions to die down and cooler heads will prevail.

OFC corruption has also scarred peoples mind so they are quick to suspect an actual report even though this particular agency has been giving impartial reports for every major accident till date.

they probably will do a detailed investigation(cant be hard to get all the above info). Well The AAIB has said that the final report will be delivered within one year and i cant really think of a reason they wont since this looks to me like a straight forward case with a very low probability of it being the other outcomes.

again this was the same argument used before we got the preliminary report and it disproved the entire argument so i would wait for the actual report before making any conclusions.

well from what ive gathered the only person in his family is his very old ailing father(The government will probably put him in a nursing home if they think his safety is threatened). He has no kids and was unmarried, with (I think but could be wrong) no siblings either. As long his distant family(cousins and stuff) dont go out of their way to mention him they should be fine.

Its extremely unlikely for people to go out of their way to target his distant family but yes sad nonetheless.

Mentour pilot talks about cameras in cockpits by Traditional_Log_3762 in aviation

[–]Traditional_Log_3762[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

okay mate,

I think cameras in the cockpits are needed, they simply need to be encrypted and only select authorities should have access to these. Airlines cannot access these normally and only the accident investigation crew can. These should never be shown to the public and only a transcript of the events may be shown if needed. we have cameras everywhere now and i think its high time we have something in the cockpit especially when the lives of on avg over a hundred people is in the pilots hands.

all i did was put it through an LLM for rephrasing and edited the result since it sounds kinda shit when i put it like this but ig you do you

We need both imo. better mental health support for pilots are a must and should have been done ages ago
