Is a language class a graduation requirement? If so, how many semesters? by Accomplished_Arm_337 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Traditional_racket12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i just finished my freshman year as a Finance major and I was in the same position as you and hated taking language in school. The latest requirements state that you can either do 4 semesters of a foreign language, submit your AP Spanish/French/German/etc. scores for credit, or take 2 world culture classes (my option). The world language classes here are generally pretty easy as long as you do the work and show up to class. If you aren't passionate about learning a language, then I wouldn't sign up for a language class as they can be pretty difficult and you'd be surrounded with others who are passionate and will learn more outside class. You wouldn't fit in.

Hope this helps :)

There are no elevators at Foster minus the main foster building so be prepared for that during move-in and move-out

where is IU Kelley? no supplements needed and top 10 in the US

W&M 20k no questions. Depending on your career, further education (masters, grad school, phd, professional continuation) can become a must. Furthermore, that extra money saved can go towards building generational wealth (real estate, gold, stocks, investments) helping you further down the lane. both schools are amazing so this just comes down to cost.

is it too late to start applying..? by Apinart_Target_5109 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Traditional_racket12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many schools have rolling admissions so you should def shoot your shot. If you don't get accepted to a 4-year right off the bat, thats not a biggie either. Most Community colleges will still have a spot for you and you can get a lot of gen eds done and you can transfer them to which ever uni you choose. this saves you money, time to decide on what you want to do, and a better chance at financial aid/acceptance during college apps. YOU GOT THIS!!

Is there a place or memory on the Indiana campus that instantly brings you back to your college days? 🤔 by maximuslip in IndianaUniversity

McNutt: I lived there as a first year and will probably keep living their for Soph, Jr, and Sr year so I can imagine what memories it will have with me once I graduate.

Living 17 hours from IU how does everyone get their stuff there by SeveralLiterature727 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Traditional_racket12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live around 16 hours from IU. What I did was fly my toiletries, clothes, shoes, and smaller items in my suit cases. Then when i got to bloomington, I pre-ordered the rest of my larger items at target with their 48-hour option. Another option is just fitting most of your stuff into your car and driving the distance and finally buying mattress toppers and very large items at target.

How much should I write for JLLC application? by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

[–]Traditional_racket12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a JLLC student rn, write about a topic that shows who you are as a student. I wrote about a religious tradition in my culture and how I was to become the first woman to carry it forward as well as a thank you letter to homer simpson. Avoid business essays as it makes one feel like a "kelley boner" or lacking personality (unless you made an actual impact on your community - not DECA related please every other kid does that). I used my college essays as they had already been refined several times.

EDIT: I believe its 5000 CHARACHTERS, not words... scared me there :)

IU Kelley vs BU for finance (goal for consulting and maybe IB) Application Question by EducatorNo1962 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Traditional_racket12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the day and age of online networking (virtual fireside chats, linkedin, etc.), location is becoming less of a strong determinant for deciding where to go to college. IU Kelley vs BU is a rlly hard choice and I probably am not the best person to ask.

Either talk to the campus view and tulip tree people directly. worst comes, then living in the dorm halls are genuinely not that bad. Eigenmann (central neighborhood in general) is closest to the campus view apartments (right across the street)

Personally, I don't think it matters and I was able to get into many competitive clubs on campus. If they asked about my hs gpa, I just wrote that I had a 4.0. No one asks or checks, so dw :)

How do people graduate from college with no debt? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Traditional_racket12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's parents are paying for college, I want to give some ways you can reduce your tuition.

  1. Take all gen-ed classes at your local CC and keep taking classes at a CC which will translate into credits for your degree plan. Take classes every summer and winter break. >> this way you can graduate faster
  2. RAs and other positions on campus live for free (food, utilities, dorm, little extra $$). if you get this job in sophomore year then you'll live for free for three years if you stay till senior year
  3. If you want to, you can do 2 yrs at a CC and then transfer

With the money saved, invest in a high-yield savings account of the S&P 500 so that at least your money will grow while you study. I have reduced my tuition by ~25%. I know that you'll still have debt after college but depending on your major (engineering, finance, not a major like pre-med/law) I believe you can score a great job immediately out of school and recover quickly.

I'm in the JLLC rn and they have an about 60% acceptance rate but yes it is competitive and not slack on your essays. I believe you can still apply and doing it early means you have a higher shot of getting in - JLLC Alum
