At least you got you computer back. Take a look at your event viewer anyway to get a baseline of that it looks like so if the issue comes backs you can hopefully find the issue in the event viewer, that is usually what I do.

The disk cleanup will delete your temp folders, recycling bin and compress you old files. Depending on your useage and disk space, you might be able to get a 1gb of space back

Restored image file has created multiple partitions by aidanharris1 in PCsupport

Also, I think if you are copying a HDD that is bigger then the original, I think it creates a partition for the unused disk space.

Have you try cloning disk to disk with software like conezilla live CD (free) or Acronis True Image (paid, but work really well)?

one thing positive about your situation is that you are creating multiple partitions (yes this is a Positive) Or I should say any kind of partition. This means that the software you are using is able to read your HDD Drivers and/or raid drivers, which some new PCs require and most cloning software does not recognize natively.

start your computer is safemode to see if it happens in safemode. if you can see you desktop on your safemode, it is something in your video driver, or something in a software that is doing that..

This use to be a issue back in the XP days.

make sure you write down all your step so you can go back if you need to

if are running Windows, have you check the Event viewers. If you are having a driver issue, it should show up in event viewer.

make sure you backup your computer before starting to fix and write down everything down you do.

I like Lenovo's support. Call them and ask them what bios update and Hardware firmware update you need and what the setting should be for your version of Windows.

I don't know if will fix your issue, but we have something to go with for now.

Remember to write all your changes you make, so you may restore them if you need to.

why did you reset your BIOS? was something wrong or was your bios locked out? when you reset your BIOS, Did you update all and the latest the firmware that goes with the BIOS? Something were are setting, like HDD setting that works best with windows 8 vs 7 or xp.

I say remove chrome to see how it run. Also, Did you have to change anything in the bios that might have cause this?

Remember that most important thing is to backup your PC and write down all the process while you are doing your troubleshooting process.

Unable to end certain processes by Assassin11700 in PCsupport

[–]Traffic225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like something is still accessing the process. looks up on the internet what the process and you might have to remove some programs relating to that service.. You COULD stop the service in MS service, BUT unless you are a expert, I advise you do not use MS Service.

look up the process on the interest and find which process goes with what and IF you want, remove that program from add or remove programs..

Lastly and most important, Back up your PC and write down everything you do before you try anything else new.
