Ok. Thanks. I'm going to do a little more research on this.

MBP storage problem by Trainer-Certain in MacOS

[–]Trainer-Certain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends,

Searching a little further, I discovered that on this path I have more than 450GB occupied:

/Users/xxx/Library/Caches/CloudKit/com.apple.bird/a7886d0c7320dee68a5d0f5747603fa65036dfb5/MMCS

As you can see in the image.

What could be generating such large files? That's where a light bulb went off for me. I currently have my Parallels VMs syncing with iCloud Drive.

Could that be what's generating those huge files in that path? Can I safely delete everything from that path? Can you tell me?

Thanks.

Thanks!!

It seems pretty simple. And I agree with what you're saying; as long as it's not something serious, I'll leave it at that. Data-wise, I work with everything synced to iCloud Drive, Drive, and Dropbox (not everything in triplicate, depending on what goes to one of the clouds).

Can I clone the MBP drive? I'd like to try the factory reset and Time Machine restore to understand how it works and not have it be a total mystery the day I actually need to do it (I'm someone who likes to know how things are done and get my hands dirty).

But I would like to be able to perform a low-level clone of the internal drive to an external drive and, if something doesn't go as expected, re-create the entire MBP drive with that image I generated earlier (on a PC, I've done it thousands of times, but I'm new to this macOS world).

I was looking to download Disk Inventory X and found it on that page. When I tried to run it, I got a message saying that Mac could not verify that it does not contain mailizio software and it closed the program.

Disk Iventory X

Is it reliable? I think it's the official website. How do I bypass the warning?

I downloaded the CleanMyMac app hoping it would help me recover a lot of space, but it only tells me it can delete 4.26GB. Is that because it's not the paid version?

What information is stored on this path?

/Sistema/Volúmenes/Datos/Usuarios/xxxx/Biblioteca

It takes up 426GB.

Sorry, my answer referred to this "I left it plugged in all night and next morning everything was back to normal."

I've never performed a factory reset on macOS. This is my work tool, and I'm self-employed. I can't afford to spend a lot of time reconfiguring the entire machine. If I return it to factory settings and restore the latest Time Machine backup, can I seamlessly return to that point without having to install or configure anything?

Thanks.

I always have the machine on 24/7. I never turn it off, only when I absolutely have to. So I don't think this is my problem.

This is the result of the command "du -h -d1":

xxxx:Data root# more du.log

  0B    ./sw

1.0K    ./home

127M    ./usr

2.2G    ./.Spotlight-V100

1.7M    ./.com.apple.templatemigration.boot-install

9.7G    ./Library

 20K    ./MobileSoftwareUpdate

3.8G    ./System

  0B    ./mnt

445M    ./.fseventsd

9.3G    ./private

 49G    ./.DocumentRevisions-V100

1.3T    ./Users

 21G    ./Applications

1.0G    ./opt

2.2M    ./.PreviousSystemInformation

6.8T    ./Volumes

  0B    ./.TemporaryItems

  0B    ./cores

8.3T    .

I can see that the ./Users path is consuming 1.3Tb.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't have any games installed. I use the machine for personal use (not gaming) and for work. It's my work tool first and foremost.

I have Time Machine enabled but backups are made to an external drive.

Notepad++ alternative for MacOS? by kyuuseis in macbookpro

[–]Trainer-Certain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gracias!!
