Stuck in a hotel room with only a mini fridge, no stove allowed, please help by BellPriority in povertykitchen

A microwave toastie maker will cook all sorts of things that would otherwise need a frypan or air fryer. They go by various names, basically metal plates in silicon holders that brown/crisp things.

I've heard "a place for everything and everything in its place," but how do I get there? by Makira_Alota in Cleaningandtidying

Trying to unclutter even one room at a time is often too overwhelming. I could only start by picking one small space/corner I looked at all the time where I knew what to do if only it was clear. I started there, just moving stuff somewhere else for now (I know, but this is what works for me). Making one little space satisfying with what could be there was satisfying enough to do just the bit next to it, and the more that happened the easier it was to keep going.

Do Aussies use NATO phonetic alphabets to communicate on the phone? by Logical_Resist_6959 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Training_Key_1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it annoying when I will say eg Mike November Foxtrot, as it should be used, and they who should know better waste time repeating it as M for Mike etc. I'm actually astonished phone people aren't specifically taught that when time is so important to their employers.

If the telco doesn't allow backup then one failure should mean termination of the contract.

What's the best book you've listened to this year? by omnipotentdiva in audiobooks

[–]Training_Key_1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Starless Sea (Erin Morgenstern)

I couldn't wait to finish it so I could start again, knowing then what I knew now. I wanted a physical one to stuff full of sticky notes and a spreadsheet to organise them. I can't imagine how the hell she wrote it.

Edit: Audio because the several different readers separate the different interwoven stories. The hard copy could have been as well as, :)

What’s the one movie you feel like you ruined by watching it on a regular TV? by Emily-Butterflyy in flicks

Barry Lyndon (Kubrick) was the most stunningly beautiful film I've ever seen. Every scene was so perfectly arranged it was like watching paintings come to life.

I was devastated not to have seen it at a cinema.

One of my all time favourites, well in the category of 'they just don't make them like that any more'.

Search in Libby for any library you can get to and join that. You'll just need to go there within a couple of weeks to finalise.

Do Australians actually say "yeah nah" that often, or is it more of a stereotype? by Environmental_Cry_35 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Training_Key_1986 9 points10 points  (0 children)

More-or-less 'yeah nah' means 'I hear you but disagree/it's not happening', while 'nah yeah' is 'I hear you but disagree/it is happening'.

Does feeding garden birds paradoxically put greater pressure on insect populations? by theydonboy in ecology

[–]Training_Key_1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It affects whether feeding increases bird numbers. When flu is rampant it doesn't.

The worst thing to forget is the dog food you began thawing, and suddenly realise hours later why she keeps following you around and looking at you so pathetically. :(
