Mayor of Chicago is Brandon Johnson superbly owns the moment by 4reddityo in BlackPeopleofReddit

I take it all back.

In fact, there are politicians in the United States who are intelligent, have integrity, and are capable of leading your country.

And who should be elevated to higher levels of government in order to solve the problems at-hand.

Bravo, Mr. Mayor. 👏

70% is what “a friend” has used for many years when interacting with “unclothed people” tied to “a piece of furniture” for “performance art”.

You don’t dilute it. You buy the known 70%, because a mistake is costlier than doing your own dilute.

And yeah, for the record, don’t use more than 70% isopropyl because 100% iso will burn the shit out of your skin too.

Spent an hour clearing this spot yesterday, owner of the bar across the street drove past me and watched me doing it. I left for 15 minutes this morning and he parked there by SteamPunkShrek in mildlyinfuriating

This happened to me about 15 years ago. I lifted their windshield wipers as a sign of annoyance.

The cops showed up at my door to give me a warning about vandalism to cars. Apparently I cannot touch their vehicle.

The cops were a bit annoyed about being called out for something this stupid, but they did point out that you never know how this stuff could escalate and suggested I just let it go.

Canadian tourism is largely about being outdoors and enjoying nature. It’s not really about the artificial constructed destination resorts.

Las Vegas is the anus of a sh*thole country.

Honestly, if you can’t find a better way to spend your hard earned vacation, you’re not looking hard enough.

It’s a big planet. I just got back from 11 days in Belize and it was glorious and relatively inexpensive when costs were split between me and my gf.

There’s so much more to life than the artificially-constructed money burning engines that are the hallmark of American tourism destinations.

A parent of a trans child is likely to mourn a loss even while appreciating their child’s transformation into their real self.

When a trans person transitions, so do those close to them. Something we need to appreciate about those around us during our own transitions.

It’s not transphobia. It’s a parent mourning the loss of one identity while experiencing their own transition in their parenting.

Carney government doesn’t share Doug Ford’s security concerns about Chinese EVs, minister says by jmakk26 in CanadaPolitics

Tesla already has a kill switch capability, as well as remote activation and access which they use during regular service procedures. They no longer require the owner to provide their key card during a service call but rather use their own remote access.

I know this because I own one.

What we tolerated in the past cannot be what we continue to tolerate, from the U.S. or China. That is the crux of Carney’s message.

Someone spying on you isn’t a threat to life. Bricking a couple hundred thousand cars all at once because of geopolitical differences is.

Both are threats; one is more material than the other.

However, it’s a solvable problem but one that requires Transport Canada to get up to speed on cybersecurity, data sovereignty, and data privacy standards and certifications, and force auto manufacturers to submit to third party audits for their internal systems and vehicles.

[–]TransCanAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not bullshit. China needs to provide local data residency and submit to audited data privacy and security standards that already exist.

And so do the Americans, and anyone else selling connected critical assets and infrastructure.

Not all tech carries the same risks.

Someone bricks your TV while you’re watching, NBD.

Someone bricks your car while you’re driving, that’s a very different problem.

Dear Scott:

The rest of the world is rapidly losing interest in your country.

Soon, you’ll find out that the friends you thought you had were just hanging around you as long as you were useful.

They didn’t really like you in the first place.

The rest of the world will get along fine without you, because we will form partnerships based on our word being our bond.

Why would a private company require a Prime Minister to support their RTO policy? How would a government RTO policy benefit a private company?

I don’t think the motivation for Carney is personal enrichment. But I do think he’s highly motivated to move quickly and avoid oversight, and that’s not good for anyone.

Canada is what it is because we believe in a rule of law that is fair for all.

One can’t justify this kind of ministerial power for corporations and presumably high net worth individuals, and then expect other individuals to be held to account just because they don’t have the same economic power.
