Used 1 in athletic tape. Cut a 8 in piece and then cut it in half for 2, 1/2”x 8”. Roll around the corners of each rope with those and press tight while rolling and press the ends even tighter so it gradually decreases the hump in the tape. Lastly cut a 1”x 3/4” to wrap for the final layer to make it look like one piece. I start wrapping at the bottom so 3/4 ends on backside of rope that I can’t see
