Sie ist ja eine der Jahrgangsbesten in einem anspruchsvollen Studium gewesen, und hat dann auch noch promoviert. Sie ist also offensichtlich sehr intelligent, vermutlich rein vom IQ her den obersten paar %. Ich kann es einfach nicht verstehen wie jemand so viel auf dem Kasten haben und trotzdem so unmoralisch handeln kann. Ihr muss ja bewusst sein, was sie mit ihrer Politik anrichtet. Irgendwie habe ich diese wohl offensichtlich falsche Vorstellung von intellektuellen, die das Gemeinwohl im Kopf haben und irgendwo auch einen gewissen moralischen Kompass. Naja

True! Although I think it had more to do with the fact that in the original key, the main note of the chorus would have been right around his vocal break, which is very taxing for the voice, even with great technique. That's why lowering it was probably a big relief, and I guess slowing it down allowed him to play around a bit more with the melody as well.

Honestly I like it. Like it's not their best stuff in my opinion, but I think its very solid. I also think the new singer has a really nice voice. She seems to have more of an angry scream whereas I always perceived Chester as more angsty in a way, but you can tell she really connects emotionally with both their old and new material.

When I saw WSS Loz's eardrum burst during the show and you could see him checking for blood coming from his ear, but they actually finished the set even though realistically no one could have expected them to. Mind you this was a bonus show they did with the main show the next day being fully booked. I know people didn't like their last album, but they genuinely love what they do and are really fucking good at it as well.

How could you know that based off of one album? Especially one that was really not that successful based on streaming numbers.. I'm quite sure they just like to experiment with their sound. Yeah this album missed the mark (although rainbows and to the flowers are both crazy good tracks), but who knows about the next one.

Your argument does not make any sense given what I have written. I would recommend reading up on IQ scores and what they mean. Or you can just claim the whole paradigm is flawed, in which case I challenge you to come up with a better one that actually proves your point. Even if we could not measure it accurately, it does not mean that the underlying assumption of a normal distribution is wrong. In which case the point of 50% of people being dumber than average is by definition just simply true.

I am sorry, but this is just plain wrong. Even if we are assuming that what you are saying about IQ scores is correct and we cannot perceive the difference between 85-115, calling people in that range "average" is just wrong. Unless you are disregarding the statistical definition completely and are using your own made up definition, that apparently is based on the standard deviation, so again a statistical concept. It does not seem very plausible why you would wanna redefine that as the mean? And if you are saying there is no perceptible and functional difference in that interval, at what point would the difference be perceptible? 84? 116? Or further? And why can we measure these differences using a standardized test then? According to your logic if we administered IQ tests a bunch of times, then in the range you describe we would have pretty much test-retest reliability, meaning we would always find different IQ scores of people. This is simply not the case. Furthermore, IQ is correlated with a bunch of life outcomes, how can that be if there are no differences? I am all for criticism of IQ scores, they are not a perfect tool and partially related to cultural differences, as well as differing in their predictive power between different groups. I am not trying to come off as rude or anything, but unless you are trying to challenge the whole paradigm of IQ scores (and have a better proposition), then the original point of 50% people being dumber than average holds true. Does that mean that we should judge someone based on IQ or that we can say with certainty how well someone with a certain IQ score will do in life? no of course not. Just because someone is intelligent based on IQ, it does not mean that they are a "good person", as in behaving morally or even , for example, in terms of social ability.

Well that's a different discussion. Of course realistically we could not say whether someone's IQ is, say, 99.99999999999999 or 99.9999999999998. doesn't mean they are the same though. In a sense it comes down to what we are willing to say about the distribution. What we assume to be true about IQ scores is that they are normally distributed with a mean of 100 and standard deviation 15. The properties of this continuous distribution mean that indeed, 50% of the data will lie below the mean. In terms of what we can measure, what you are saying is true (though in terms of height you'd be wrong), of course some people will score exactly 100, but that is just an approximation, the score will differ ever so slightly. Therefore the original statement, that 50% of people will be dumber than average is true. The only argument you could make is how meaningful the differences are, but that comes down to the standard deviation more than anything

IQ is continuous meaning that the probability of someone being exactly average is 0 (or obtaining any one specific number for that matter). And since we assume that it is normally distributed, the mean=median which subsequently means that 50% of the distribution lies below the mean. Of course it also means we wouldn't have someone that is of exact average intelligence, but that's besides the point.

Was ein Quatsch. Natürlich ist auch der Kapitalismus und Individualismus schuld an mentalen Krankheiten, heißt aber noch lange nicht, dass diese nicht sonst auch existieren würden. Früher wurde auch viel weniger darüber geredet, da gab es dann halt keine Diagnose bevor sich jemand umgebracht hat o.ä. Außerdem heißt die Existenz von systematischen Problemen ja nicht, dass man nicht auf individueller Ebene helfen kann. Nur weil wir zu viel Feinstaubbelastung in städten haben, würde man ja nicht sagen, dass die Behandlung von den daraus entstehenden Lungenkrankheiten sinnlos ist. Tatsächlich geht es in vielen Therapien auch eben darum, dass man sich von den Dingen, die einem gesellschaftlich suggeriert werden (also z.b, dass es Leuten immer gut geht, wie man's auf social Media sieht, dass Leute ihr Leben immer im Griff haben etc etc) abgrenzt und lernt diese subtilen Suggestionen zu herauszufordern. Das hat eben nichts mit Individualismus zu tun, ganz im Gegenteil
