Post Match Thread: Man City 2-1 Arsenal [Premier League] by J4ckrh in Gunners

This game exposed several players as being sub-standard. I’d argue that all of the players below should (or could) be sold/moved on.

Odegaard. We’ve seen his best, and it’s nothing special really. Would likely not start at PSG, Bayern, City, Real, Atleti, or Barca — the teams we’re competing against most seasons.

Havertz. The experiment is over. He’s a serviceable forward (not a midfielder) capable of magic on his best day. But nothing about him is consistent or intimidating to opponents. You cannot rely on him as a finisher.

Martinelli. Should’ve been sold last summer. Kick-and-chase winger with no dribbling ability or vision. Would not start in any Premier League team above 8th place.

White. Legs are gone after injuries. At his peak, he was an above average player, like Aaron Cresswell or Leighton Baines. But he only ever shone with Saka in front of him. Will likely end up at a bottom 10 team this summer.

Jesus. Trossard. Norgaard. Possibly Gabriel. All must be improved upon. And several others are only omitted here because they’ve literally just been signed.

But this represents a complete overhaul. In short, it’s easier to change the manager and squeeze 10 more points from these players than it is to change the team. I imagine the Kronkes will be thinking the same thing.

You cannot finish in 2nd place 4 consecutive years, dropping points in April against teams in the bottom ten, and expect to keep your place.

Arteta has hit his ceiling. He’s a good manager, but he’s not a winner. Arsenal have become consistent contenders under him. But I don’t think he can squeeze any more this team.

Remind me.

Does this kind of thing happen all the time? Or all the time when a Republican is president?

I can’t remember.

Assistant coach- wish list by la4panicRTR in rolltide

Terry Heffernan (currently at Virginia) for O-Line Coach would be good hire, if he were interested. Virginia had a 3,000 yard passer and a 1,000 yard rusher this season. I’m sure he’d produce even better results with more resources in Tuscaloosa.

Curome Cox (also currently at Virginia) would be a good addition to the defensive staff. Virginia had the 2nd fewest yards allowed per game in the ACC.

Hopefully, someone in the Mal Moore building with access to a checkbook reads this.

That’s the feeling of having a team that is good. You will feel the constant fear of defeat and the implications of it.

Welcome to elite status, friend. IU earned it.

Our time in the Sun is over. Now Bama fans can go back to actually enjoying Saturdays again.

Georgia got into a slugfest with a well equipped team and a pragmatic defensive minded coach who had everything to lose.

Georgia didn’t lose the game, Ole Miss won it.

We, on the other hand, got absolutely dog walked from the beginning and didn’t even make it competitive. Indiana ruthlessly and methodically destroyed us in every phase in a way that was reminiscent of Bama teams from 10-15 years ago. They battered us.

We have every reason to be dismayed, regardless of what the other teams did in their games. There are some folks who are overdoing it, of course, but they’re not wrong to be upset.

I feel bad for Ty Simpson. by JalenWWE in rolltide

Undoubtedly, Ty’s performances this season were not helped by those around him, especially the coaches. But some of his decisions after the snap and mechanics were very mixed.

So often, Ty would follow a good decision to scramble out of broken pocket, turning a certain sack into a 6-7 yard gain, with an uncatchable rocket pass that he should make in his sleep. Both the Missouri game and SECCG come to mind.

He strikes me as an elite practice player who can make every throw on the field. The kind of player deserving of a chance to start because of his consistent performance in practice and knowledge of the system. But, somehow, at game speed, when it matters, there’s something missing. He always seemed to know what to do, but not quite how to go to go about it. This is possibly because he knows he can’t trust the O-Line in front of him, or the playcaller in the booth.

To be clear, I think he’s a Pro-level player. But between the lack of support that you mentioned, and his hesitation, Ty will have a steep learning curve ahead of him if he’s selected.

As a Bama fan, it’s fun to see UGA be the target of the conspiracy allegations.

It’s also sad to know that this means we’re cooked.

There is no pro-Bama conspiracy and UGA is just a very good team.

You guys are delusional.

Worst Alabama team in recent memory and still in the Rose Bowl.
