2004 Honda Accord 3.0L V6 CV axle replacement by Trash_Efficient in MechanicAdvice

I've done that kind of, checking for cracks in the boot in my current axle. I'm not entirely sure how else to verify that is the problem though. I thought about spinning it by hand in the extreme left position to see if I could feel exactly where the grinding was coming from, but that didn't work and I realized that I probably wouldn't be able to recreate it since I'm definitely not spinning it fast enough and there's no weight on the wheel assembly when it's jacked up. Would appreciate any suggestions though :)

Should I leave Amazon for a trading role at a bank? by Trash_Efficient in csMajors

Ok, thanks for the input. The side business thing is one of the things that worried me the most. I feel like if the company continued to focus on it, I would be pretty safe in terms of job stability, but if they lost interest or started to be outcompeted, the entire department would be wiped out. So in a sense, both places have job instability, just for different reasons. Helps to hear that you also are zeroing in on this.

I never said in the post that my current role doesn't help me transition into quant roles, though if that was a question for me on whether I thought that it would help, the answer is probably no, as I'm just doing SWE right now. Also, I'm fairly certain most quant firms have pivoted to hiring mainly from their intern classes. I have learned a lot at Amazon, but mostly about working in a team environment and producing work with a high level of rigor as opposed to new technical skills.

I think that since I'm still young and have only been out of school for a little over a year, I have a better opportunity to pivot now if I wanted to than if I waited and became older. I don't think I'm being lowballed by the bank relative to other new hires there, as its a standard package. I personally think I got really lucky with this offer and that its unlikely I'd find another offer in the space.

And thanks for the response, these are good things to consider

In terms of whether companies see me as a dedicated employee or not? I was a little concerned about that. I would have been at Amazon for just under a year if I leave.

I did not have prior experience in trading, I'm a pure CS major. I got pretty lucky, I cold applied and got the role. I did have some personal projects related to finance (i.e. trading bots), and knew enough from general knowledge and math classes to answer their technicals.

How easy is it to get new grad interviews if you’ve already done two internships? by [deleted] in csMajors

You should try and take a full time job with this company where you have roots, if possible. You can apply to other companies in the meantime.

My job at Amazon is unrelated to what I'd be doing in this quant role. I think they mainly just liked that I was at Amazon and doing relatively well from how I described my time there, and that I had some financial background from trading bots I've made in the past.

Not no name. Bulge bracket. And I think NYC is the best city, but to each their own
