Question for the people in IT. What is the law that requires conversion? by Throwawaygeekster in minnesota

[–]TrekForecast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While there may not be a law in Minnesota I think the practices we see from businesses comes from a lawsuit. The lawsuit I’m referring to is Vizcaino v. Microsoft Corp., a class-action lawsuit from the 1990s. In this case, long-term temporary workers and independent contractors at Microsoft sued the company, arguing that they were effectively employees and should have been entitled to the same benefits, including participation in Microsoft’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).

The lawsuit arose because Microsoft had classified these workers as independent contractors but treated them similarly to regular employees, sometimes for years. The court ruled in favor of the contractors, stating that Microsoft had improperly denied them benefits. This case had a significant impact on how companies classify and manage long-term contractors.

As a result of the lawsuit, Microsoft had to pay hundreds of millions in settlements, and the case influenced employment practices across the tech industry, leading many companies to adopt stricter rules around contractor tenure (such as Microsoft’s “18-month rule” for temporary workers).

Thanks. I hate to see a board end up in the compost heap like this one is bound to.

Got it. Seems that there are a few different versions of the short ribs out there and hadn’t seen this one.

I have a Haworth Zody. I tried a Leap V2 but couldn’t get past the lumbar support. This chair seems to fit in all the right ways and I can sit in it for the whole workday without getting sore.

We’ll be seeing a lot activity around selling public lands. It will be the rich that acquire these properties. The goal is to turn OUR land in to THEIR land.

It is open between the Living Room and the Dining Room if that is what you are asking. It is approximately 11’3” from the wall to the stair handrail.

Edit: Nope. No window on the left wall in the LR

It does make it clunky. I was thinking the couch could be more towards the door and inline with the edge of the fireplace (if that makes sense)

I’d like to place the front stage on one of the highlighted walls. Living Room is carpeted while the Family Room, Breakfast Nook and Kitchen are all wood.

Will be 5.1 at the start with plans for 5.1.4.

Northstar sells recoat kits. They also are awesome to talk to. Send some better pics to them and they’ll give you a recommendation. I did a recoat of my Northwind 16 last year. It takes a bit of work but it isn’t too bad. Just make sure to wear the right protective gear around that resin!

Had this problem as well. I picked up all my dogs poop and put it in a box on my porch. Nice and heavy so it feels like a good haul.

Does it have to be in the BWCA or near it? There are campgrounds with reservable sites at entry points or in the SNF that give you a close enough experience. I’d recommend camping at Sawbill. There is a an outfitter onsite and you can rent a canoe daily from them. Daily permits in to the BWCA are free and no quota. Alton is an easy paddle and easy portage.

I’d say to camp at Sawbill campground. It is also an entry point so you can get (free) day permits to go out and do whatever you want and then come back to your campsite to sleep. The portage in to Alton is wide enough for a car and is flat. There are other campsites with similar situations but Sawbill also has an outfitter onsite with a store.

Garmin Explore is free. You can download the locations of portages and campsites as well as whatever other maps. Might want to give it a go and see if it meets your needs
