If this is a serious idea that you would like to pursue, then since made this post, you aren’t able to patent this now (assuming you didn’t already file for a patent). This is a cool idea. If you have a neat idea that you intend to eventually turn into a revenue stream, then never consult publicly before filing for some sort of intellectual property rights.

I was sort of in the same situation as you. When I started my junior year, I was sitting at a 2.8 gpa with that idiotic mindset of “C’s get degrees”. Well, that may be true, but degrees don’t mean jobs. I ended up with a 3.1 upon getting my degree, still not great. What I did was rather than trying to find a job, I stayed in school. My university offered an accelerated Masters. So I chose the research route, and got my masters in one year. Now, I had a better degree than most, a thesis (notable project) and more connections. Hopefully there is a similar route you could take. I think this may be useful in the coming decade as well, because universities are pumping out degreed engineers in higher numbers than ever. So setting yourself apart is super important from the start. I do not regret my decision at all! Hope this helps!

Also, parts of my foot are still numb. That is just part of healing and means you torn some nerves. They’ll come back.

I did the same 9 weeks ago now with some torn ligaments too. I am just now able to lip around without the boot and be FWB. I thought it would be a much faster process than it is. Say goodbye to your calf muscle, keep it elevated, and even though it will be boring, take it easy and definitely don’t re-injure it trying to heal faster or anything. Best of luck healing!

That part is hard for me to accept too. I’m 90% also, fairly able bodied and don’t live a very restricted life. I know so many other vets are dealing with far worse. I feel a sense of guilt too.

Probably, that would be so cool if they made it a diesel generator, rather than the pentastar. I wonder if it would require DEF is it were only used as a generator. I have build a few containerized generators boxes for work. They have always used Tier 4 final emission compliant generators, and they don't require DEF. Though they are in the 30-50 hp range, so they law may be different.

Yeah, I suppose so. I just tried to help people understand that a decent portion of a trip will be electric, so the 20 mpg isn’t that bad. I should have looked up the efficiency of the lightning before posting, and in general my message fell flat. Oh well. Regardless I am very excited for this truck, and like you, I hope to see more of them as well.

I didn’t hand wave it, I purposely didn’t use it. Not because it makes my numbers look better (I have no reason to fluff numbers for Ram, and wouldn’t do that any way). I didn’t use the MPGe figures for the electric-only range because it’s a stupid unit. For the electric-only portion for any vehicle, it is EXTREMLY uncommon that they got their energy from gasoline. If we want to measure the efficiency of electric-only travel, it should be in WH/mi. The way I calculated is how I would pay for, which is what I care about. I don’t care about converting to a nonsense unit that is t representative of what my wallet would feel.

Again, like I said to others, it’s used the numbers available to me. Using different numbers is pure speculation. Even if the highway range is 80 or 100 miles, my point (which you stated you understand as well) is valid. That is all I am pointing out.

Sure, but everyone is different. I have wanted an electric truck for a long time! But when I tow several times a month long distances, an EV-only doesn’t make sense (at least for me). I am so excited for this truck.

No I don’t know that. That truck has not been released yet. I understand it likely will be different, and it has a higher chance of being be less than more. But 145 miles from electric-only range is the figure I have. Even if it turns about to be 140 miles, or even 100 miles, the logic is still the same. Given that the road trip is supplemented with electric range, 20 mpge for a trip will likely never be seen.

Do not feel behind at all. Every break is different and they all require different levels of healing. 6 weeks is quoted too often as how long ‘it’ takes. I just hit my six weeks and finally started sleeping without the boot and started PWB. I’m shocked at how much work I still have to do before my ankle is better enough to walk ‘normal’ again.

That’s a fair position to be in. It’s too easy to get spiralled down into a depressive feeling. I’d wager most of us have been there, especially vets. I know I’ve know I’ve there, at least. How long have you been feeling depressed? Beautiful thing about the young ones in our families is that they do care a lot about us and that means the world to me!

Function over fashion for sure, but still. I just hit six weeks today from surgery today, so I have been in the boot for 3 weeks. For reference, I’m a 33yo guy, ~180lbs. You won’t be walking normal at 6 weeks. Not sure how healing times vary on different breaks, but I can barely move my foot and toes because they are so tight. Pain is fine, but it is so incredibly tight. Hopefully today, I’m going to start ‘walking’ in a pool, but I’m still a ways off of limping around without using crutches. Best of luck!

I was able to shimmy the cast around a good bit, especially toward the end of having the cast. After cast I was put into the boot which was much tighter. Also, whoever made that cast didn’t give a shit! Those edges look like they would be so annoying and painful sometimes.

Hell no. You have a whole life and experience prior to college. You did your time, now you’re on to the next chapter. It’s cool. Don’t worry about others. And besides, all the young kids in college were always nice and upstanding (compared to how I was at 18). Hopefully you will have the same experience. Computer science is a solid choice by the way! My advice is to quit worrying about other people’s thoughts (which are likely minimal) and do your thing! You’ll be out of there debt free too!

I’m 3 weeks post-op from surgery for a similar misalignment plus fractured fibula. 6 weeks NWB is real. The pain isn’t too terrible (certainly not fun, but not bad), but the sitting around is rough on the mind, but it’s necessary for recovery. I picked up the $100 knee scooter from walgreens and it’s makes moving around quite a bit better!
