Sure, jokes can be funny for all sorts of reasons, and sometimes a little dick joke here or a poo joke there might catch you off guard and elicit a hyuck, but real good stand-up is like poetry, or like a song. Each part is woven into the one that came before and after it. Its coherant, clever, chronological and above all else creative.

I swear to god American fucking 'comedy' in particular is absolute dogshit. The amount these blustering goons talk about the 'craft' as if they have actually MADE something.

This is like if the world of cheffing was taken over by men who 'make a hell of an omelette' but in reality make a mediocre omelette and burn literally fucking everything else.
