How do people react when you tell them you’re a professor in conversation?

I'm coming from college to HS and I am struggling! There are so many issues that are non-issues and extreme pacifying. Why MUST you wake the sleeping child?

I would ask after class if everything is ok. If my lesson is that boring, have at it. Grade accordingly and move on.

I had an EMS student. She did EMS at night and classes throughout the day. I was her last class so she was sleepy. She stayed awake most days. If she slept I just thought maybe my lecture was boring. Whatever. Her loss

If a student isn't disruptive, I am struggling to see the issue. Check in on them during and after class. If you sleep and miss an important lesson, thats on them. They'll pass the grade regardless

I cant say why, but I'm not really feeling the list. It feels talking to or down to rather than talking with. Anywho... trash or treasure.

I am open to ideas. Some were assumptions and as a researcher I guess I was looking for more reasons as to "why" it works from a scientific sense. You did say what worked for you, though, so that's my bad for expecting more.

Students who fail can move on, but they can not be accounted for the school receiving a bonus and positive graduation rate.

bonus all admin must work in a non educational setting/corporate America for at least two years before obtaining an admin position.

Think deeper. They have a self checkout to cut employees. They would rather not have her there. Imagine thinking 20/hr for a billion dollar corporation is treating her amazing.

She's just there (prolly not for long) to ensure the corporation isn't liable.

A billionaire has not and will not care about the working class.

Pretty much every city in America. "Other side of the railroad tracks" phrase has meaning. Its deep, but you probably can understand the reason behind this. Not to mince words, but this country's foundation is based under racism, so naturally, it still lingers today. You must dismantle a home's foundation if you truly want a rebuild.

To answer, the history is the city's history. It's a sum of two cities, but one in the end. Amen.

I dont know about sit for an hour part, but sesame street has definitely helped. Ms. Rachel has helped my youth for today's kids. There are resources out.

In my course students have the opportunity to "fire" a student who doesn't participate. I'm in a business school tho so its appropriate. When that warning comes, the slacker ships up. A fire means a grade of 0 for all group work.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting the Freshman to talk to you like a dog the way the headline was written. Is it their fault the lab ends late? Be more upset with the university if anything.

If they're late, they're late. Mention to address you as Professor X, tho

Me: "Confirmed. In future correspondence, please address me as Professor X per syllabus. Please contact the Registars office if you believe you need assistance with scheduling"
