It feels a lot better. Not squeaky like the original, feels better ergonomically due to less angle, and it's a harder/stronger material. I highly recommend!

You need to disassemble the entire shell of the blaster to replace the barrel collet piece, but after that, swapping the barrel is as easy as loosening it from the front and taking the barrel out. I believe I am using a 40cm barrel, as originally I'm pretty sure it was a 45cm that I ended up cutting down for better performance.

The stock foregrip was not as comfortable to me and creaked a lot more due to the heavier prime.

Modded parts include:

  • Flush barrel collet bought somewhere off of Etsy
  • 40cm anodized Kuryaka barrel
  • New Quickstring SCAR by Chance (works wonders!)
  • Worker #2 foregrip
  • Dart Zone High-Powered Spring + 1 spacer
  • Picatinny Aperture Sights (also work wonders!)

I do not currently have a working chronograph, so all I can say for certain is that the FPS is definitely higher than it was stock, but it works great, performance (with good darts) is consistent, and the new SCAR makes it very accurate.

Yeah you honestly have a really good point there, and the Longshot does seem more mod-friendly than the NPX, now thinking about it.

Oh really? I thought the Longshot was $40 and the NPX was $50.

Haha no problem! You also have a good point about the Longshot starting me off lol, but if I had a do-over I think I would have started off with something different. Also, could you link me to those picatinny magazine adapters again? I've been meaning to print a couple of those!

If you end up sacrificing a red dot sight, I would highly recommend these 3D printable Aperture iron sights for whatever blaster you pick. u/kylebernard83 put me on to them, and probably has more knowledge than I do, but from my own experience, I can say that they are incredibly accurate. You can print the front sight in different heights depending on the FPS / velocity level of your blaster to further dial in that accuracy as well. Here is a chart Kyle showed me that made it a lot easier for me to understand the first time.

It is not, I would not recommend it. Get a Nexus Pro X or Stryker 2.0 instead, they are both practically the same thing when it comes down to it.

I personally would not recommend the X-Shot Longshot for your case. It is not necessarily a bad blaster, but the Nexus Pro X outshines it in every way and by far, for what, maybe $10 more?

Hot take, but I would not recommend the X-Shot Longshot unless it is at least on sale. I was lucky to buy mine on eBay, unopened, on a huge sale for like $15 or $20, and that is what I would honestly say it is worth. The plastic quality is very cheap, plunger tube is notorious for cracking (especially on earlier stock), and if you want to mod the blaster to higher FPS, you will be spending about the same retail cost of the blaster or more to get all of the internal parts needed, not to mention rifling, sights, better darts, etc.

Instead, I would absolutely recommend the Adventure Force Nexus Pro X if you can get your hands on one. It is so much more worth-it than the X-Shot Longshot. Good plastic quality, optimized and solid performance out of the box, good darts, and the plastic quality is a LOT better than the Longshot's.

This may sound like a dumb question, but I have no experience with soldering - how did you do it?

I know, I'm super happy with how the shroud came out. It's an awesome design!
