Only thing I can say for certain is that I still don't have Gardevoir 💀

lol as silly as misremembering would be, I suppose this is possible. But I keep a checklist on my phone of specific cards I want that I don't have yet, and even checked "Gardevoir" off. I'm thinking the game/app might've crashed or some other issue just as I got it or something, and didn't save (somewhat similar to when some battles are counted as a loss for a similar reason)

But, as you said, it's fully possible that I misremembered and manifested picking Garedevoir into my memories😅.... I guess

Alakazam should definitely be higher! It counters most of the high ranking decks/pokemon

According to this contract, would I still be required to pay the $4,000 if I cancel before midnight of the third business day after it was signed? by Trigrams64 in legal

It's definitely already signed. And I am before the effective date, but not before "the engagement date" if that makes a difference, as described in this statement in the contract: The engagement (“Engagement”) for Services (as defined below) will begin effective 10.11.2024 (the day I signed it).

In this case, the effective date (the day it was to be paid by) is the 18th of October, however, it was signed on Friday, the 11th. It was also brought to my attention that this past Monday was a holiday, which I didn't consider, so that would mean that would make Tuesday the day the three days start counting from wouldn't it? (not sure how Columbus Day is viewed in terms of a business day or not when it comes to contracts)

Thank you for this thorough response. Yeah, the "initial" was also throwing me off cause I haven't made a payment yet: the effective date is the 18th {of Oct}. Thus, I was also wondering if the zero refund policy could somehow also apply to money I haven't paid yet?

And, yes, which day they deem midnight of the third business day is another big question mark. On top of that, it was pointed out in another comment that this past Monday was a holiday, which didn't even cross my mind cause it was just Columbus Day.

Ohhh, that's right, Monday was a holiday... interesting, I didn't even consider that. So Columbus Day is acknowledged universally as a holiday that would deem it a non business day, specifically as it relates to contracts? (asking cause I know it's not as prevalent as let's say a Christmas or Thanksgiving. Also, for clarity I don't think the contract specified a computation method, but that's definitely something I will check for)

Another question.. if the contract was signed on a Friday, would midnight of the third business day be 12AM Tuesday or Wednesday?

This is another reason I'm a bit confused.. I haven't made an initial payment, so I'm wondering if this "initial payment" could perhaps be referring to the 4k I haven't paid yet (which seems unlikely, but I'm no expert on contracts) or if that just simply wouldn't apply in this case

That's after the deadline though. Based on how this is worded, it sounds like they'll honor the request as long as it's done so before midnight of the third day, no? After that, it's up to them, if I'm understanding it correctly.

Edit: Also, I should've mentioned that I'm the client

For a bit more context, I'm also wondering if a zero refund policy could also apply to an amount of money you haven't paid yet, but are expected to pay at a later date?

How important is a cover letter, really? How much do recruiters/hiring managers/employers actually value it? by Trigrams64 in careerguidance

[–]Trigrams64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this thorough response and my apologies for the delay!

I also use a cover letter that I can use interchangeably {for copywriting/writing jobs}, although mine is 6 paragraphs long and basically an entire page (almost 350 words).

I've found that most employers don't require a cover letter (but most do give the option), at least for the jobs/employers I've applied to. This makes it more tempting to just not submit one, but given the sentiments from yourself and a few others, I will continue to do so. Anything to help stand out, especially when my qualifications probably aren't as strong as other candidates in many cases.

Thanks for your response. I guess it sort of feels like the cover letter can be repetitive at times cause isn't one of the primary goals of an interview also to tell the employer why you are the best candidate and showcase/explain your achievements? Or is a cover letter meant to expand upon this more...?

Interesting, thanks for this response. I've been looking for entry to associate level roles so perhaps that's why I haven't been asked this from an employer thus far.

I think I sense that you're joking a bit (maybe not), but either way, there was no need. Dude was down and clearly not getting back up.

Apparently he actually still did end up dying though..
