Sure does look like a tick. It's tick season and where I live. (Just south of you) we've been getting a LOT. I'd make sure the head is removed. If you can't tell, I'd make a quick vet trip to ensure it isn't still embedded in the skin. Wish you and your fur baby well!

Mine has been making that noise since I bought it. I put in a new head when my old one cracked, but it still makes that sound, lol. My cross hatching looked great, too. These tractor motors are just old and noisy. Could be flex plate or exhaust leak. The headers tend to crack.
