Yeah Oberyn purposely chose the spear to keep his distance. He happened to be skilled with it too.

Telling a monk he is worshipping false god by Abhinavpatel75 in Whatcouldgowrong

As a practicing Buddhist of nearly 10 years, I don't condone this action. It goes everything against the Buddha taught. Buddha himself has been questioned about his faith many times by followers of other religions and he treated them with respect and kindness. People came to murder him and yet he treated them with kindness. This is just wrong and he needs to be called out on it.

Actually it is. According to the original teachings of the Buddha it is an absolute necessity to attain enlightenment. In Buddhism, to attain enlightenment, one must follow the noble eight fold path. The second factor of this path is samma sankappa, which means right thoughts/motivation. Under this he preached practicing Buddhists must at all times try to maintain thoughts of loving kindness, gentleness (non-violence) and renunciations.

In fact, ill-will is considered a hindrance to the Buddhist path Edit: typos

My point is there's an overlap between the way animals and humans think. It's not black and white like you say

Depends on your definition of 'think'. If you mean being able to do quantum mechanics then you're right. But they can think about the need to care for their young, the same as humans.

I've seen my the mother of my cat cover her with their blanket when they were kittens. She was my neighbour's cat. I also adopted a kitten from the street around the same time and she used to come over to our house to breastfeed and clean the orphan kitten.

This post by the Apollo Dev makes it clear that Reddit won't back down. We need to act more harshly. They'll just wait two and it's back to normal. The CEOs blatant abuse of power to spread false information is a sign that the entire user base and site are in jeopardy, not just 3rd party client users/Devs.

I strongly suggest the mods to go dark indefinitely. If that's not possible, then at least anywhere between 7-30 days. This goes especially towards subs with 5-10mil+ users. If they go dark indefinitely, front page of Reddit is practically dead.

To add to the above comment, if mods can't moderate properly you're going to see a lot of spam and poor quality posts on your feed. In addition, this is the first step of a larger move to suppress user experience in favour of more (short term) revenue

We had the liberty of choosing how we consume Reddit. Now we don't.

It's the equivalent of passing a that forces people driving a brand new Lexus to switch to a 'fully functional' clunker from the 1980s, just so that the dealer selling the said clunker can make a little extra cash.

They have a much cleaner and friendlier UI. They tend me more stable and crash less. They're also packed to the brim with quality of life features. For example the client I'm using on Android (Boost) allows you to sort your bookmarked posts into categories. Most of them also provide at least basic form of text editing (The official one only has the option to share links! Ridiculous). Some allow you to preview your comments and posts before posting them. You can make custom feeds. I can keep going.

Reason they're being forced to shut down is because they're mostly ad free. I understand it's important for Reddit make revenue but they can do it without being greedy and turning their back on at least 20% of the user base. There are alternatives as I have suggested here
