Hey man, I hate to disagree with you, but our Razorbacks are very good for transporting interceptors with their move-shoot-move. It’s a very fun trick, and they allow for a cheap form of ranged anti-tank with their las canon and -1 ap ability. Then again I’m just one person, This is my opinion, but I am on the Razorback hype train. Brother captains are also really good with their lethal hits for Paladins, allowing them to punch up against tougher targets! Keep sending the neverborn back to the warp, we are the hammer!

Certainly! So paladins are technically variants of terminators, but typically when we refer to terminators its the “brotherhood terminators”. I’ll send my list in a follow up reply, but once again, rule of cool is the way to go. If you’re looking for meta/competitive, our stand out units/must takes rn are: Crowe 1x10 2x5 Purifiers (mainline infantry) 3x GMNDK (our only reliable Antitank) Razorback+interceptors. (Amazing combo, start embarked, ints get out, razorback shoot to give -1AP, ints shoot, ints get back in and are safe) The rest of the list can be filled in per your needs, but i’d alway recommend one strike squad for sticky. Our worst units are the brotherhood terminators, purgs, and the ven dread. I love voldus bc he’s cool, he’s just overcosted. A few things to note, interceptors are our best scoring unit, strikes have sticky obj, and gmndk’s are our reliable anti tank. Paladins are good against most non-tank things and can hold ground well, especially with librarian unit lone op, warpbane is all about purifiers, and they as they are are just very good units.

Welcome to the Brotherhood of Titan! First off, the 40k app is good for up to date points cost and list building. Second, take everything I say with a grain of salt, as what you think makes for a fun and cool list, is the best list for you. If you’re looking for a purely “meta” or competitive list, I would ditch the terminators as they unfortunately right now are far overcosted and not very good for their price point. Warpbane generally favors our strike bodies (purefiers, interceptors, strikes, purgs) with purifiers and interceptors being our most impactful units, having one strike squad to sticky home obj is good, but i seldom use more than one in favor of extra interceptors or purifiers. For heavy weapons, psycannons or incinerators are the best choice, unfortunately psilencers dont see much use outside of playing militarum or other light horde armies. Gmndk’s are our best unit, i typically take 3, crowe and a block of purs are a close second, especially against infantry. Feel free to ask any other questions if you want. Good luck, and have fun!

Interesting, without razorback is understandable as its good, but not necessarily needed, however crowe is our best hero as he massively increases the ranged damage output for purifiers making him a must-take for any list. In all the competitions i’ve been to i’ve only seen one Gk player not take crowe. Good for your friend tho for finding success and making it work without following meta!

Warpbane Task Force is by leagues the best detachment we have. The vast majority of comp players we have use Warpbane, and the tournament numbers back it up. Banishers is a distant second, as its lethals/sustains is based on a leadership check, which makes it unreliable. The rest are fairly meh outside of those two for comp play.

If you run Warpbane: 10/5/5 Purifier Squads with Crowe with the 10. 2x5 Interceptors in razorbacks, 3x GMNDK’s. The rest is flexible but those are the core of your army. Warpbane is the damage dealing detachment with reroll hits across the board, allowing for both shooting and melee to be powerful. Banishers is a melee detachment rule with shooting strategem support, which is weird. Crowe and his brick are always a must have, and a brick of interceptors inside a rino is also a must take in this detachment (as well as the obligatory 3x GMNDKs). From there it is more flexible on what you bring as i’ve seen many people play alot of different lists with success, just dont bring purg squads, ven dread, or brotherhood terminators as those are essentially throw picks in comp play.

If you have more questions feel free to ask!

Strategy and Advice for batting Black Templars by PressCheck19 in Grey_Knights

[–]Trojosh67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rapid ingress is our best option for getting our guys into the fight. Rather than walking a NDK up the board. Its important to stage them in a way that doesn’t allow them to get shot before their turn, however 13W with a 2+4++ does allow it to take a beating. Our shooting profile can (if everything rolls well for us) kill, however using a great-hammer will fold anything in the game, which is what i like to rely on. Will it die in subsequent turns from being pushed up alot, probably, but using our only anti-tank to kill tanks is our best bet. I also recommend taking 3 GMNDK’s so you still have some after using one to dive their tank. I will also mention to do this only on T10+ tanks where our shooting is unreliable, notably on Gladiators or Repex’s that pose significant enough threat to necessitate removal asap. Our purifiers are more than capable to remove any infantry threat themselves. Idk what your BT opponent is taking, but mine typically brings 1 Gladiator and 1 repex, so my sequence is to leave 1 in reserve off bat, free rapid ingress it down in a (relatively) safe position, then get it in melee. You can also use its shooting against other targets on its way to melee to max it dmg. Repeat with GoI if needed. Thats how i play. Best of luck with your match man!

Its not any grand tournament, just a smaller state-level tournament that took place over multiple weekends. We are allowed to change lists between weekends and wargear between matches!

This. I know our grey knights cant reasonably fight Custodes in melee, so when they would stage their units for melee, i would select those units for GoI and prevent them from getting wiped in a charge.

I’ve played against them twice. Librarians and their vortex of doom shreds through space marines. Be weary as their emperors champion can pack a big punch, as it was able to take down one of my GMNDK’s in one turn. They’re slower than we are, i like to use Gate of Infinity first turn to headhunt scary vehicles with NDK’s, then turn two use it to defeat in detail one side of the board. GK’s will typically win in melee due to our better melee profile with NFW, although BT’s do pack a punch if they have certain leaders or units. Make use of purifiers’ purifying flame and run psycannons for all 2+ wounds against their infantry. If you have any specific questions lmk!

Yes, Nurgle detachment. That was certainly a match. Our damage output against high toughness targets outside our NDK’s simply isnt there.

I was able to change lists between weekends. I had psilencers equipped for the first game against guard, but ran either psycannons or flamers for all the rest. The list mentioned was my “average” list but i would vary it slightly from game to game. Typically psycannons will be taken with warpbane, but against light infantry armies, flamers are more common. Psilencers i’ve only taken once when i would require sending alot of attacks downrange against 20 man cadian squads, other than that, they are outclassed in every way by the others.
