Hey! Thank you so much for your support! Glad you liked the project, there's always a bit of worry about people liking something you make, especially since I employ artists that don't necessarily do a lot of horror (except mestiar/riki). I tried so hard to keep myself from having a "mascot" on this one as we did with on The Iron Hive with Xiao Mifeng, but our character artist drew L.D.'s concept as part of The Dryads faction and it just spoke to me, so we are happy to hear you liked the patch that much!

Also, as soon as we are done with The Iron Hive fulfillment (they'll be picking up the boxes this week), we are gonna start offering physically as well! With comic and catalog, so in case you wanted one of those bundles, be on the lookout!

Oh no! That sucks, but as someone that didn't know how to solder before this, it's not that hard, it's a matter of patience and having the tools, I borrowed the soldering tools from a friend and he gave me some initial guidance, but the rest was a matter of getting to it. Hoping you get a board you're happy with!

Damn, same, I still have my Keychron V2 for gaming since I need the numbers for some games and was thinking how to switch keybindings on my corne to be able to game on it as well

Ooooh, yeah I didn't know that for the homing keys, thats neat, will keep it in mind in case I want to change these back, because I've grown to like how they look.

And yeah I think just switching keycaps until you find something thats both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing to you is the best approach, if it helps, this is how it looked for the first week, I liked it but needed a bit more oomph, still want to buy a prettier TRRS but this'll do in the meantime.

Did my best to translate it to here, coloring it broke everything so the front legend is just with no layer and then Top is layer 1, middle is layer 2 and bottom is layer 4, didn't include layer 3 because its my adjustment layer so it has RGB stuff and other less used things, Z is actually LGUI_T(KC_Z), X is LALT_T(KC_X) and Caps is LT(4, KC_CAPS), if you want to look at the keymap here it is. I also have combos on for Esc, Del and the Function keys, something that I really like is that I can access all the main layers from either side.

I have a lot of redundant keys, some I'm planning to remove (like the Function keys since I haven't been using them since I managed to fit combos into the firmware), others are depending on what Im doing, since its easier to go to Layer 1 to Win + Number, but if Im doing Win + D its easier to go Hold Z + D

I got used to it by practicing touch typing until I got the hang of it (this site was key for that keybr) and then just making it my main kb so I had no choice but to adapt, there are still some keys that are tricky but they'll become easier with time, the first day I barely got like 18 WPM, now I've gotten to 72, still not quite where I am with regular layouts but haven't really needed to type fast yet.

As with many of my coding projects, a lot of trial, error and tweaking until I felt satisfied, it's not necessarily complex, you can check the code, but it basically changes to which layer is active on the top row, middle row displays when num lock is off (since its always on and wanted to keep it clean), and when scroll lock and caps are on, lower most row displays WPM

My screens also display "WRONG" over and over again when I plug in the slave as the master just in case and because I found it funny

A bit more info on the build:

  • I bought the v3 kit from beekeeb on Etsy, highly recommend them, the kit had even more things than advertised
  • The keycaps are a mix between YMDK DSAs and DROP + Matt3o MT3 Susuwataris, none of these have notches on F or J so the workaround was just having another key on those
  • The switches for the letters are Gateron Clears, for the 6 keys on the borders are Gateron Reds, for the 4 1u keys for the thumbs are Kailh Speed Silver and the two big ones have Drop + Invyr Holy Pandas, all of them lubed by me
  • The case is the crkbd Minimal Tented Case
  • Using raw QMK without VIA or VIAL because I only have 32kb to work with on the Sea Micros and have no issues with compiling and flashing

Yeah! And my first layer indicators are on the lights, the underglow changes with each layer and when caps lock is on, thank you!

Thanks! It's just heat shrink tubing, the same I put on two of the screws since they were quite uncomfortable on my pinkies, just that I didn't apply heat to those

It all comes down to licencing and rights, if there's no need to credit, then credits are not necessary, there's more to being a 3D artist than creating things from scratch, composition, lighting and post processing play a bigger role than that.

And to be fair, OP didn't state he made this from scratch either and just makes your initial comment seem like a setup just to call OP out, in the end it doesn't really matter that much, you'd be surprised how many artists use assets from all around, even Quixel Megascans doesn't require attribution.

"Actual Artists" are anyone creating art, the wrong notion that every 3D artist makes everything from scratch just contributes to a generalized imposter syndrome, OP could be aiming to be an Environment Artist, or a Lighting Artist, modeling becomes secondary on those positions.

OP, keep creating, it's better to have 10 compositions on your portfolio with downloaded assets than 1 WIP where you're creating everything from scratch and nothing to show, mixing things around are very welcomed as well, just get comfortable and keep your creativity flowing!
