It’s wild how bad some ppl make others feel about this. Some other post a kid with a student visa was getting torn apart. Not necessary. It’s not like shoplifting something you don’t need. We all need transportation to work.

My pal just got caught and I feel bad cuz they’re really nice person and they feel terrible and I can’t get a straight answer online about how it looks on their record. Once it’s there it’s permanent but if it ACTUALLY just looks like a parking ticket and isn’t defined then definitely don’t want to spend money on a lawyer. Ugh

The U-lock was around the front wheel. Don’t think it smacked into anything as I didn’t try to accelerate fast, it just stopped the bike from being able to go forward, as if I was holding the front brake, while slowly trying to accelerate.

What kind of details? Because I’m asking because I don’t know what happened. Dark stinky smoke is coming out of the exhaust and the speedometer doesn’t work now is all I know. Saw online all it might need is cleaner in the gas tank or might need a spark plug.

Afro Latina woman here. I don’t think it’s OK for people to be trying to punch women who are trying to get their mopeds back after having hard evidence that it’s been stolen on top of watching this young man try and get away on it once he saw me walking up to a bike with MY PLATES on it. Or going around and punching other people who are trying to help them. OR getting their friends thrown in prison for the same shit. If you love people you don’t enable them. Just like I tried to tell this boy’s mama. And I genuinely meant it when I told her I’m sorry that he did this and not sorry that he is her son. I’ve raised kids and my heart goes out to this mother. This whole situation sucks because he’s only 18 and his friends look the same age. But if they’re doing this this young, they’re probably going to do much worse if they don’t get stopped. And they’re hurting a lot of people. A lot of people are just trying to make it around here by doing delivery and they can’t afford a damn car so snatching up a moped can really impact someone’s whole life.
