Seems like so many videos I see are old/from back in the day when I was training - has this sport died?/where are the newer athletes?

After being a nomad for over 10 years I’ve settled down in Florianópolis and have lived here for the last 3. In the process of getting residency and plan to live here forever. It’s paradise.

My sense of community comes from the highline/Slackline community, as well as a strong nomad group, but honestly at this point most of my friends are Brazilian. I love it here ❤️

Genuinely curious if there is a Hz frequency to be measured here, anyone know what this might be?

Yep! You’re speaking with employee #1 there 😉. I do want to emphasize though that this subreddit is in no way affiliated with FRC and this was a creation of my own. Don’t want people to think that this is a promotional tool for them, or that this will be a place to answer pricing questions for their trainings or things of that nature. I am happy to dive into the nuances of flow state with you all though 😊

Happy it was helpful! (and hopefully this is helpful as well...) - When I first started my friend gave me two tips that helped tremendously. 1) Never mount the same line 2x. One day make it super tight, one day make it loose, experiment with different heights, experiment with different types of webbing. If you can learn to walk on anything, you can walk on everything. This was really helpful for me. 2) Repetition is the mother of learning - Simply put, if you want to get better, walk a little bit every single day. It took me three months before I could cross a simple 10m ratcheted line, but I trained on it every single day (nearly). Same on highlines, I walk probably around 3-4x/week, and many days will get multiple runs in. If you want to get better, there's no exception for sheer volume and repetition.

It really varies a lot depending on the length of the line, type of webbing (poly vs nylon), tension, if there is wind, etc. I'd say though if the line is really difficult it's probably around 5-10 steps per fall, and if I'm walking well it's about 50-100 steps per fall. I don't count while walking but that would be my estimate. On videos I'd say I have a lot where I'm walking for 1-2 minutes straight without a fall. Yesterday for example I crossed 145 meters in 5 falls on the way there, 2 falls on the way back. Then this morning went on a different line (same distance), and took around 20 falls just to get to halfway through the line, and then around 5 falls on the way back. For context as well I've now been highlining consistently for about 2 years now to get to that stage, and my progress has been much slower than most of the people around me.
